First of all, Marco is now at Society Hill Towers, and I am about to call him to make an appointment. His number is the same.
Marco has literally changed my whole outlook on my hair. Before I found him I never knew what to do with it and was always embarassed at how I looked in pictures. His intricate and perfect haircuts stay in for months. They are stylish, urban, vogue and appropriate for me. I never felt like he looked down on me or gave me less of a haircut because I'm not a beauty queen (and believe me, I have felt that way many times at nail places and other salons.) He spends a very long time getting a haircut just right, very unlike other hairdressers who seem satisfied with mediocrity.
He is expensive-- but worth it. He's a really nice man and most importantly, brilliant with hair.

Highly unprofessional guy,
Yells at customers as if he is giving you a free service.[even free services are far more courteous than MARCO]
Ok hair cut, not the exclusive in the town, for the money you pay.
Never values your time, the laziest person I have ever seen. He can make a customer wait outside his shop for 2 hours in sun & would forget that he has to be there for the appointment & would easily deny that you had set up an appointment.

I'm very sorry to report that this salon is not great. The first time I went, I got great highlights and a great cut. The second time was a different story:
- it felt like the person who washed my hair wanted to poke my eyes out through my temples (and I had a headache for the rest of the day)
- I sat with water dripping down my back for 10 minutes. When I asked for a towel I was treated like a complainer and subsequently rushed out the door
- My cut is just barely mediocre.
The worst part is that I called a week and a half ago to find a resolution, and nobody called back.

Salon South is a very cozy and friendly place. When you walk in you're greeted by a friendly receptionist and Marco. The girl who did my color did an excellent job and Marco gave me a fabulous haircut, which isn't always so easy to come by when you have curly hair. Another girl in the salon was getting her hair straightened and it came out beautifully. I highly suggest trying this salon, especially for flattering hair color. The only possible drawback is that credit cards are not accepted (cash and checks are). Prices are on par with other high quality salons in the area.

South Salon is one of the worse salon i've deal with. I asked Marco to give me highlights and hair color and he did an awful job. Trust me, you can't even see the highlights on my hair. Secondly, i wana to get the make up done for my party and lady (who works their part time) did my make up, which was extremely bad. She made me look like a horrible witch. Even though i didn't like the make up i still end up paying $50 for it. (ripped off) I don't know how and why these people can recommend South Salon, probably they have not seen any better salons yet. I am very unhappy of their service. Not recommended at all !!

i have tried since i was in my teens..now 34 ..to find a salon..a hairdresser that did what you asked them to do and do it right! i met marc at chipper clipper..where he once worked, and i could not believe my haircut and color when i left ! i recommended everyone i knew to him to experience a haircut that made you feel ""the absolute best "" and the aveda products were just an add on. i do go back and forth from marc only because it is a little hard on my budget with 3 boys , but it is definitely worth every penny ! anyone going to a wedding, reunion, party, etcc..you must have him do your hair ! trust me, you will look like you need to be on the red carpet ! and he has the best personality . loove him !

Who knew that when walking into Salon South, you were in the presence of greatness. I speak of Marcos, of course. If great customer service and good conversation are not enough, you will be floored by the superb haricuts and professional highlights. The salon also has a great atmosphere. I recenty visited Salon South and was very nervous about getting a new style and new highlights. Marcos took the time to listen and make recommendations. He was right. I walked out of Salon South feeling hot, hot, hot. I urge anyone who reads this to look no further and go to Salon South for an amazing experience.

A client for 13 years, I can tell you Marco is the very best! I have curly hair and it takes a very special and talented stylist to handle it. I would never let anyone else touch my hair and I travel to Marco from NE Philly. He has personalized my color and highlights to compliment my skin and dare I say age; and I always get compliments. Marco and his staff are gracious and friendly and kind. The salon itself has a pleasent sent and style; never the smell of chemicals and always clean. You are SPECIAL at Salon South!

I don't know why this place has ""low prices"" as one of its descriptors. I received a fabulous cut and style (from Marco), but was a bit floored when the total (along with a small bottle of smoothing gel that he recommended) came to over $80! It was a great haircut, but I don't know if I can afford this place again.

I have been a client of Salon South for approximately 3 months and I can't believe it took me so long to find them! I have extremely curly hair and was terrified of going to salons.. All they want to do is cut, cut, cut! Not a Salon South! Marco is a genius and I always leave looking and feeling absolutely fabulous! They listen to you and make you feel like part of the family. Definitely the proverbial needle in the haystack! Thank you Marco and Gang for being miracle workers! You are the best!
