I read the review that said the restaurant looks amazing but the food tastes like a TV dinner, and unfortunately it's true. I couldn't believe how bland the chicken marsala was. I've seriously had better Stouffer's meals outta my oven before.
Great place to have a few drinks, but the food just plain sucks. I'd rather eat at a taco bell.

Great atmosphere, especially for the summer. Beautiful place overall. Great, attentive service. BUT.... portions are terribly small and you pay a high price for the ambiance, Oysters at 3.00 per is a little crazy. 19.00 for small appetizer is high. Drinks are good size, but overly expensive as well. I could deal with the drinks if they gave you more food. DO NOT valet here: The valet on 2 different occasions took 30-40 min EACH TIME to get our car. Absolutely ridiculous for a place like this and no excuse. if you go, park in the nearby lot. Overall a good place, but there are better choices in the city.

My husband and I have been going to Positano Coast for years--it was Lambertis Cucina when we first went.(same company). But I must say that since it has been Positano Coast it has changed in really great ways. When we first went, the service was not consistent,but the food was always good. Since then it has gotten much better and more consistent. What I love is the atmosphere. This is a beautiful restaurant and extremely comfortable. The food is deliscious and the choices ,wonderful;the staff is more knowledgable. My husband and I are not drinkers,but we order several appetizers,dinner,dessert, and coffee- the bill is usually below 100$ or right around there-which is very reasonable,especially in this location. I have been in the restaurant business for over 20 years and I can say with some expertise, that this is a fine establishment worth becoming a regular of.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and so here?s mine: the negative reviews below are CRAZY! There?s many reasons why Positano got that philly mag thing. The atmosphere is so inviting and different, the service is friendly and the food, well isn?t that what philly mag was talking about ? it?s fantastic! Instead of talking about how inaccurate what everyone else said below is, I?d rather mention what I love about the place. The crudo menu ? so delicious ? many times I?ll end up ordering one of each raw italian delight b/c I can?t choose between them. And the sea urchin pasta ? I?ve never had anything like it, such intense flavor. The lemon drink they do ? heaven in a glass! Back to the food, I love the seppia and the skate dish is so different and tastes so good. The shrimp dish is delicious and the gnocchi melt in your mouth!! The restaurant is so beautiful to look at and in warm weather, I love sitting in the lounge feeling the wind and watching the curtains sway in the wind. Very cool!! For a great dining experience, I encourage everyone to give Positano a try - I know you?ll love it too!!

I never had the interest to try Positano Coast until I saw it was named one of the the top 50 restaurants in Philadelphia by Philly Mag. So we decided to try it. The restaurant has great ambience. We sat at the bar and got seated at 8:30 when we had a 8:00 reservation. The dining room was virtually empty. I had already checked out the menu online and was very much looking forward to it, only to find out they were serving a limited menu, Valentines day leftovers, which consisted of mostly meat. For an Italian restaurant to serve mostly meat on a Friday during Lent doesnt make sense. Especially for a restaurant that has such a great ""crudo"" menu . The wine list was limited but we managed to find a wine we liked.
""Small Plates""is apparently the mottow at PC and they are meant to share , what kind of concept is this? You go to Buddakhan and its big plates, (family style) meant to share. So I was not thrilled when I saw my Branzino come out and it was the size of my palm served with fishy tasting little neck clams.
I ordered oysters I got crab claws, which to be fair were good. I ordered an arugula salad app, to be honest I couldnt find the arugula.
We left before we could order desert , I mean what was next , a little mini cannoli served with custard instead of ricotta for two?

I agree with the two previous reviews, Positano fails to impress on every count. We showed up on time yet were directed to wait in the bar for 40 minutes for our table. We purchased pricey wine that tasted like something out of a jug. Our waiter was friendly but obviously rushed and barely had time to tell us about the specials.
I ordered the branzino and my husband ordered the osso bucco. I have to explain that I am a petite person who doesn't eat a lot, but this branzino was so tiny it looked like an anchovy. The fish was no bigger than my finger and it featured 1 baby tomato split in two as a garnish. Nedless to say I was starving but didn't want to wait for more food, so I ate the entire bread basket.
I think this place is so pupular because it is cheap and lively. The food is definitely not expensive and if you can't tell the difference between a decent and a great glass of wine, then this is your spot. If your standars are higher then this, there are plenty of Italian places in Philly that don't disapoint.

Took my girlfriend out on what I thought would be a romantic Valentine's Day dinner. Upon entering the restaurant, a half hour early, the maitre de looked at me as if I had just insulted her mother by showing up early. She didnt hide her snide looks and directed me to the bar, where I purchased two way over priced glasses of wine. When she did decide to seat us, looking as if she was granting us the gift of life, we were greated by a waiter who barely had the time to finish a sentence before running off to a seemingly more important table. Even when we ordered, I was barely able to finish completing my order before my waiter felt the need to run off to larger sized table. All in all, the food is so so, scenery is nice, but considering the service treated us as if we just received our green cards, I was none too impressed. I wonder if my girlfriend is going to break up with me because of my poor choice for a Valentine's Night dinner. Stay tuned...

Let me start with a quick preface - yes, I have had many excellent dinners in Philly, and no, Im not averse to giving credit when it is due. So, on to the review. Sat night reservation. Seated 1/2 hour after arranged time; not too surprising given how busy it was. Server was nice enough, although clearly over-stretched given how busy it was. As for the meal? Lets just say supermarket frozen pasta tastes the same. Dont believe me? give it a try and dont get angry when you think back to this review and realize you wasted your time and money. Only positive? The lounge looks pretty nice. I gotta say, its absolutely amazing that this place has received so many positive reviews. Perhaps it was a really, really, really, off night. Not planning on finding out with a second try though. FYI meals tried - antipasti (only flavor on the plate was the olives), gnocci, fetuccini, chicken parm and veal. What a colossal disappointment.

I've been here a few times now, twice in a large group and once with a date - and their food is consistently fresh and delicious. The service can be slow, but then, our group had 18 people so that might have had something to do with it (and the time that I went with a date, we just ordered way too much food).
For appetizers, the oysters and the grilled seppia (squid-like seafood) were very good and the prosciutto persimmon was interesting. Beef carpaccio excellent and the olives, delicious. Entree: the osso bucco is excellent, and I think the boar was good but I don't remember it and couldn't get it the last time I went. The lamb was very good and the skate was heavier than I would have liked but it was okay. I had the chilled berry soup for dessert which was refreshing.
Overall, a favorite!
