I went to this business hoping that they would be able to place me in a position. I have a pretty good resume. They were suppose to send me a test that I do from home a week before my interview. I called and emailed them several times and they never sent it so that I would have to spend hours completing the stuff in their office which was clearly a disadvantage. They wanted a lot of information and did not find me a position. I was overqualified for most of their positions they had. I was very unhappy with this agency.

I had a strange experience with Philly Temps.
When I went in for an interview with them, they were very nice and seemed to really like my resume. However, they sent me on one interview and I never heard back from them. I called Sequoia after the interview, as instructed. She was busy, so I spoke to someone else. I sent two e-mails to Sequoia to try to get some feedback, but she never answered.
This is the only agency that has ever dropped me without a word and I have no idea why. I was fine with not getting the job, but a form letter e-mail or any other type of feedback would have been simply normal business practice.

I had recently moved to Philadelphia and was cash poor and completely over getting a serving job. I've been looking to get a career track going for a while, but because of various circumstances I've had to move a lot lately, and that's meant jobs that start quickly and easy pay. I decided to try sending my resume out to temp agencies and the literally the only one that even contacted me (and I don't have a completely sad resume) was Philly Temps.
It was probably two and half weeks after sending them my resume that they had me scheduled for my first assignment. Obviously the assignments were not predictable and the pay isn't phenomenal, but to expect otherwise at a temp agency is frankly naive. I actually enjoyed the pace and the last minute calls, and all the while it was giving me to time to look for something permanent while they were also helping me look.
All this while I was probably calling the office every two weeks changing my mind about what I was looking for, or what kind of positions I would accept (in my defense I had warned them that I was uncertain). Despite all this, I was never treated with anything but respect and flexibility.
After a few months of being able to augment my husband's salary with the temp positions I received, I was presented with two temp to perm opportunities at the same time and one of them ended up being a very unexpected, but wonderful fit for me. The next time I came into the office after I had been hired, literally everyone in the office came out to congratulate me.
I have heard terrible things about temp agencies in the past, but Philly Temps is absolutely the exception. I have and will continue to recommend them to friends who are transitioning or need something to augment their current income. I am extremely grateful for everything they did for me, and I don't have a single complaint from my experience.

I've been registered with Philly Temps for quite a few years and have had nothing but great experiences. I noticed some negative reviews and would like to say that they will send you on assignments that you are qualified for and in the pay range you stated during your interview with them. If you are on one assignment and something comes in that you may b e suited for no, they will not pull you from one to work the other and there isn't a temp agency in the world who will do so.
If you stated that you wanted nothing less than $20 an hour per position, they will not even consider you for one paying $15. If you told them you won't commute further than 10 miles and something comes in at 15 miles away, they probably won't call you so you need to be very careful at the particulars that you specify and not get upset if you're not called for long term positions that you'd like to be on as opposed to short term that meet your specification.
The only favoritism I've ever seen is they cater to temps who get good ratings and reviews from clients so, if you are not up to par with your work or professionalism, you will be passed over when other positions become open.
I love Philly Temps and have referred several people I know to them who haven't had any issues.

I started working with Philly Temps about six months ago. As a freelance writer/musician, I needed some steady work while still reserving time for my other pursuits. Philly Temps has been great at finding me work. At first I bounced around a bit. I had a short stint at the convention center and also worked a catered event. After a month or so, I started working at an office in Center City doing data entry and other general office things and have been working on and off in that office ever since. It's not the most glamorous job by far, but considering my circumstances it's a pretty good fit. Temping is what you make it. If you're willing to work and have a good attitude, you will do very well with Philly Temps.
The staff is very friendly and encouraging. They take time to get to know you as a person and not just as another worker. They will do their best to find work for you that fits your skills and personality as well as your overall life circumstances. They've been super helpful and I'm really glad I found them.

I was pleased with my experience with Philly Temps. I have never worked for a temp agency before so I did not know what to expect. The staff was very attentive and worked their best to get me work fast. They are also good at following up with you. I have already recommended them to a friend.

I was referred to Phillytemps from a friend who had gotten a direct hire placement. When going through the same service, I was placed with short term (a few days here and there) placements, after explicitly stating my interest in long-term temp-to-perm positions. I was called out of the blue to do them a favor for a placement for 4 hours, that needed me there right that moment. I did it. I was placed with the next company for 3 days. Completed. The company called back and requested me for an additional 3 days the following week. Completed. Then I was placed with a company for a 3 day assignment, two days one week, one day the following week, and variable hours. The week of this assignment was in the middle of the week (a wednesday) therefore rendering me ineligible for any other placements they had. I was told that job was all that was available. Come to find out, it was the only one I was offered. Two weeks go by. No calls for placements. Then again, out of the blue, a call for the same company with an immediate need for a few hours. I declined stating I'll wait for a more long term job. Then I was contacted that evening about a job that was to be for the rest of that week. Due to procrastination, that job offer was rescinded because the client went to another agency. Nothing was available. I find out from a girl in the office, that all the placements had been taken including a placement for over a dozen workers for one company for a longterm assignment. I was told I wasn't offered any of those positions because I'd already been offered another assignment that fell through.
Long story short. Between ineptitude and possible favoritism to who they do and do not want to give the jobs to, your qualifications and skills stand a better chance at being realized at another agency. Phillytemps did not foot the bill, but rather came out very, very disappointing.

I've worked for several agencies over the years and in all sorts of industries, from office positions to catering, you name it. I have never felt more ""at home"" than with Philly Temps. Not only have I met and worked with a lot of wonderful people through Philly Temps, but both Liz and Christine are more than friendly and always treat me like a human being, which sadly, can't be said about every other employer I've had in the past. They constantly go above and beyond to accommodate my varying schedule and work with me as best they can. They always manage to find the right position for my needs, which tend to change with the seasons. In the past, other employers have been quick to write me off if I wasn't available for something, yet Philly Temps, if I ask them to keep me in mind for the next position, does exactly that. I trust them to keep me working, and in return, they trust that I will always show up on time and willing to go above and beyond to represent them in a positive manner. If you're looking for them to set you up in a lax job where you get paid $16-20/hour to sit around eating junk food and surfing the internet all day, you're probably going to be unhappy and have negative things to say. But if you can work hard, show up on time and represent them well, they'll keep you working.
