Based in Philadelphia, Pa., Philadelphia Dance Company, also known as PHILADANCO is a nonprofit organization providing comprehensive training, coaching and mentoring programs for dancers and choreographers across the United States and around the world. It is a modern contemporary dance company that tours nationally as well as internationally. Founded in 1970, the company primarily specializes in the African-American cultural traditions in dance. Additionally, the firm has founded the International Conference of Black Dance Companies and the International Association of Blacks in Dance (IABD) for addressing the special needs of the African American dance community.
