Great Pedicure at a Nail Salon that Truly Cares- a rare gem in Philladelphia! There are so many nail salons in South st it's almost impossible to be able to predict the good from the bad so obviously I needed to consult reviews. I typed in best nail salons Philly and the first thing that popped up was nailpolishbarspa and after I read all the reviews I thought why not, it's worth a try. I went in and was impressed at not only the large selection of top brand nail polishes Nailpolish had, but the unique nail treatments I had never seen before at a typical nail salon. It literally took me forever to decide which nail treatment I wanted as I'm terrible with decisions, but in the end I decided to try the Spa pedicure surprisingly refreshing. I loved it!! It's so much better than your typical pedicure It truly was like 40 minutes of heaven. !

Shellac manicure at Nail Polish Bar Spa, in case you're not familiar with the gel nail craze, it's much different than your run of the mill manicure. In this process, thin layers of gel are applied to the nails and cured under an ultraviolet light to create a highly durable, glossy finish, and can reportedly last a few weeks. Manicurist Tee applied my Shellac, I noticed that the manicure took place almost in reverse. Cuticles are first pushed back and nails prepped with a swipe of acetone to prep for color. After polishing, the more indulgent hand massage and lotions are applied, so as not to risk interfering with the polish application or color adherence to the nail. After two week, I am amazed at how the high-gloss finish was still sparkling and fresh. The one drawback is that Shellac can only be applied in salons.

Love Nail Polish Bar Spa, I don't get fakes but my french pedicures come out perfect every time. The white line is straight and thin, the polish not too thick and they last. Plus my girlfriends and I always have a blast there.... well the latter could just be from the free wine they serving us.
Frankly, cheapie nail salons are a dime a dozen in philly...and even moreso on south st. You can barely walk a few doors before hitting a nail salon or a baby stroller, and THAT my friends...is the truth.
So what can set one of these nail shops apart? (because all the baby strollers look the same to me, so we won't even go there!). Well, super nice, clean, stylish, modern, great color selection, waxing , great customer service, reliable appointment making, and a manicure that lasts a solid 10 days.
'Tis what I received at Nail Polish Bar Spa for $18 + tip. Yes, you can get a cheaper (maybe $12 manicure) at other spots up and down south st....but this one is heads above the rest in terms of atmosphere and style. This is a place you'd spring a few extra bucks to bring a friend, or your mother, or sister...a nice little treat without nail fungus, crazy ugly nail art, or tumbleweeds. Super clean. I throughly enjoyed and will absolutely be back when in need of a nail place in philly. Because yes...they're a dime a dozen or a nickle a natch...but some just stand out. Nail Polish is one of them.

I have been using Gelish since May and love the fact it remains shiny forever, it doesnt chip and is so quick to apply, especially with the LED lamp curing the gel. I go Nail Polish Bar Spa the manicures name Ti, She do such great job. My gelish mani last between 2- 3 week.
I go to Tee for my the Axxium manicure I absolutely love it, and I'm on my second set. You have to completely remove the gel, and start from scratch.
It really is great though, no chips or breakage. It really makes your nails feel thicker, and it really is a layer of protection for your natural nails. I've done some things that I know would have broken my natural nails; yet with the Axxium, and no tears, chips, or breakage. I just love the texture of it... really cool feel.
I would go to OPI's site to look at the colors that are available, and it's just a selection of some of their more popular colors.
Thanks Tee for doing such a exellence job on my nail.

I go to Tee, the owner, and her gel/powder/acrylic nails are incredible. They look remarkably natural and thin and I only have to get refills every 3 to 4 weeks. I also think the prices are pretty reasonable and competitive with other salons.
This is a higher-end salon and very pretty inside. It is spotlessly clean. Tee is the most accommodating person I've ever met--she really just wants her customers to be happy and goes above & beyond to make that happen.
This is a cash-only place (there is a Wawa across the street with an ATM) with lots of street parking available.

Great place to drop in and get a mani/pedi. I love that you don't need to have an appointment. I've never had to wait for more than 10 minutes for them to get me started. The massage they give during the pedicure is the best ever!! The salon is cute and funky, very clean, and several steps up from a mall salon where nobody speaks English. It costs a little more than those mall places but it was totally worth the price.
