I heard from a friend that there was a place with great steak and tuna to die for at a reasonable price, great wine selection.more than 20 by the glass, which is a lot for a small restaurant.i said ill try it, i went with my wife, very cool interior, funky world music and sinatra music thrown in,melding lights behind the bar. whoever designed this place has a eye for color and crispness.we tried the drunken crab bisque and a bootsie salad, the bisque had very good flavor and the salad was fresh and tasty.i had th ny strip with horseradish bacon mashed potatoes, and roated garlic mushrooms.my wife loves tuna seared. what came from the kitchen was AWESOME the steak was perfect, and i mean perfect medium, the potatoes were full flavored and the mushrooms were the icing on the cake. my wifes tuna was awesome seared sushi grade tuna and the puttanesca sauce and pasta were great .later we found out the guy with the wine know how was the owner boots extremely nice , the chef was cool like a biker -hippie with tazmanian devils and harlelys on his pants ,not bad for an old guy.PEEPS drag your bones in and be cool, drink and dine and enjoy that wine

Do not do business with this individual. I know him personally and he is out to screw anyone he
comes into contact with. He continually talks about his staff saying how he is surrounded by idiots. He has a story about everything and anything. He is Bipolar as hell and his fits of rage are an annoyance to his group of friends. No one has the courage to tell him.

wwwEatingteamnet eats Bootsies and is full! We were very skeptical of another trendy place opening up in Philly only to worry more about presentation rather then taste and good portions. This place not only has good portions but great tasting food. They have redone the place and the menu recently and they have a home run. The Eatingteam sent 5 representatives down there to review it and each one came back thanking me for the assingment. The Tuna, Steak, Huge Crabcakes, Chicken Parm and SHrimp and scallops were all great dishes. The menu was not ver y big but there is enough on there for everyone to find something.Great service. Great food. Great find.

I visited Bootsie?s now 3 times. Once for lunch and twice for dinner. For lunch I had the Kobe? burger done perfectly medium with sauteed mushroom and onions, blue cheese and bacon, this may be the best burger I ever had. My 2 associates had the black Angus burger with lettuce, tomato, American cheese and bacon, for the one and Bootsie?s steak in sweet Thai chili sauce for the other. They both loved it and had rave reviews. For dinner the one night I visited with my darling, who had the New York strip steak, dome medium rare, she did not need a steak knife, as Boots himself told us, the steak was so tender she cut it with a butter knife with no effort at all. It came with great horseradish / bacon mashed potatoes and roasted garlic mushrooms. It?s a winner! I had the grilled whole fish (Orata) of the day, which reminded me of my last trip to Greece. It was perfectly accompanied with Israeli salad and Basmati rice. Yet another winner. On our last trip we had the seafood feast for two, 4 lobster tails, very large order of large shrimp, same size order of scallops and a ton of crab meat, with a side of pasta. It would have served 3 easily. Last but not least, the bartender and staff had a great knowledge of what wines to pair with our meals, they even offered us a taste before we made up our minds. They also have some wine & beer you usually can?t find other places. All in all the place is awesome, the service is flawless, the ambiance is very comfortable and relaxed, and the food superb. We have some more dining to do at Bootsie?s and will return soon.

Went there for dinner on a Tuesday night and loved everything about it from the friendly warm smiles at welcoming and service to the yummies on the plate. I ordered the grape leaves with red sauce which melted right in your mouth as the appetizers. My friend ordered the Tuna Puttanesca, which she said was better than what she had in Rome, I was forced to sample the product after those comments. You could just taste the freshness of the tomatoes, capers and olives and the red sauce was not too acidic as is the case in most places. I ordered the ""Cioppino"" a mixture of scallops, mussels, clams, big ol' shrimp and pasta over marinara sauce. The shrimp and scallops were cooked to perfection, never struggled with any bite. I was impressed with the portions and although I left full, I was not bloated...these guys did it right.
On a side note we got to sampler of the ""Shrimp Amy"" which is not yet on the menu, you'll have to ask the head chef, ""Ron"" I think that's his name and Bootsie himself about that creation...the recipe alone will have you wanting more. Bootsie's is definitely a must, next time I'll have to order the much acclaimed crab cakes.
My wife and I can't stop telling our friends about Bootsie's. This was both of ours second time in, the first was before they changed things, and it won't be our last time in. The new look is great and the menue changes are to die for and not only is the food good but the selection of drinks are outstanding. All I can say is that it worth the trip coming over from Jersey.

I found the atmosphere extremely warm and friendly. The owner and staff are available to their guests at all times. I found the food superb and as good as any 5 star restaurant in Philadelphia. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, fun evening. The owner presented himself to us and offered complimentary wine. They have a great catalog of beers and wine if you prefer. I throughly enjoyed my evening and will be frequenting more often.

Me and two friends dined at Bootsie's last Friday night, and found it to be a nice new addition to the restaurant choices of Philadelphia, PA. I started with the drunken crab bisque, which was outstanding. Following that, I had the Osso Buco as my entree'. I can't elaborate on how great the food was, as the others at my table most assuringly will agree.
The service was great, and the atmosphere was very welcoming and enjoyable. I would recommend to anyone looking for a great dining experience at a reasonable cost to visit this new establishment.
