Ordered 7.10.17 Absolutely hated this food! I ordered naan, chicken Korma, and samosa chaat. Let me preface this by saying I eat Indian food, a lot. I almost always order the same thing (korma) i.e. I know how it is supposed to taste.Pros: food was 10 minutes earlyThe chick peas were well seasoned and spicyCons:Naan was too salty. In my experience, naan tastes similar to pita bread. So, no distinct flavor other than it has little flavor. This was way too salty and hard. Didn't tear or chew easily.Chaat: new item. I know better next time (well, there won't be one at this place). It is literally a platter sized dish (re: Big AF) with ONE vegetable samosa and filled with cold chick peas.Korma: EFFING HORRIBLE! I think these people just think "dumb Americans" aren't supposed to know what "authentic" Inidan food is supposed to taste like. The Korma looked unappealing and had the consistency of thickened chicken broth versus the creamy yogurt based look it should have. It was a gross green color instead of the yellow ( due to the use of turmeric and saffron) it was supposed to be. It tasted gross! Not like Indian food AT ALL!. It tasted like chicken broth after it is congealed and been reheated with some jelly like parts left over. Anywho, I immediately called customer service and the woman (Rachelle/Rochelle) was nice. She empathized and told me she would call the restaurant to ask for a refund for me, which was appreciated. She called back and stated after a few calls and waiting, the restaurant was not willing to refund me because "that's just how they prepare it". So I lost my 30 bucks but was compensated with a coupon from GH. so, they wont replace my money, that's ok. They can just get a bad review on EVERY platform.Moral of the story: the food and customer service at this place IS TERRIBLE!
Since Tandoor was remodeled in 2015 everything is better. The place looks great, the food is better than ever and the service is just right. They are attentive, but not annoying. I also recommend you call them for Free Delivery.
Went to taj india three times so far in last 6 months. First time food was ok and quantity was great, took them little while to get the food to us but, it was all fresh. Next two times, I call ahead and place the order..., food is ready when I get there and their taste is perfect now.... also, groupon also has a coupon for them.
Our consumer association has exposed Taj India for posting fake five-star reviews for itself. I have actually tried Taj India's food - it tasted terrible! Taj India's service is very slow and their prices are very high.
This place has the best malai kofta I've ever had. the service though left much to be desired. all in all though I would definitely return
Taj India posts obviously phony rave reviews for itself at several websites, yet falsely claims that the negative reviews for them were posted by rival restaurants. Taj India is a LIAR! I am not a rival, just a real consumer who knows that Taj India overcharges customers for stale, leftover, inferior tasting food. Do NOT succumb to Taj India's online marketing scam! Note that on Taj India's Google reviews page, the positive reviews get voted down, but the negative reviews get voted up! That suggests that REAL customers hate Taj India, since you can only vote once from each computer. Note that after 37 ratings, Taj India averages only one star on Yellow Pages' website, because here it is difficult for business owners to manipulate reviews for their own companies. The best Indian food is in Manhattan, but if you must stay local, try the Indian joints in North Philly and Center City. They tend to use freshest and best quality food - and have the best recipes. As for service and prices, all Indian restaurants are too slow, rude, and expensive. However, do NOT go to Taj India. At least their competitors will serve infinitely better tasting food! Taj India's food tastes like it came out of a can and was sitting on the counter for three days!
Delicious!! My highest recommendation. Excellent service.
Stumbled on this place.. Very mom and pop, standard flare.. But the sauces were light and flavorful.. The server was very down to earth and nice
