I went to anns for awhile when it first opened (about winter2009-10) and I loved the way my nails looked, but it did not take long to catch onto things... For starters, the employment around there is sketchy. I would pick a tech who did a great job, find out her name and told her i would recommend/request her, but when I came back for a refill 2 weeks later they had quit/been fired which I never understood. This happened at least three times to a tech whose work I actually loved. Second, too be completely honest, Ann is a very sweet lady... with a very good imagination. She told me many different stories that contradicted eachother. The first time I seen a male tech sitting next to her I asked if they were married and Ann told me "no I'm single" from then on, everytime I went in there she referred to him as her husband. The last time I was in there she told me she was engaged..... WHaaatt?!? Completely irrelevant to the service I know, but it's very strange. And the man who was her so called husband is IGNORANT like are you working for tips or what? He is very shaky and has cut me time and time again with the tool I like to call "the buzzer" he cuts your cuticles and has, on more than one occasion, scraped my fingertips with those things! Without an apology might I add. He also did friends of mine and has scraped into my friends nail, causing her to pull her hand away and he YELLED AT HER?? (God bless Ann). Lastly they really do take their time on your nails. I usually would spend no less than 2 hours including wait and dry. I also have gotten pedicures here and they don't know when enough is enough when it comes to the nail file. Also, this may just be me, but I've never been charged extra for French on my toes (besides here). You will switch techs constantly, often due to Shakes and Ann taking cigarette breaks... Nice right? Also, Pay attention to the price list. It is not out of the ordinary for Ann to pull a price out of thin air because she thinks she can trick you .. I once corrected her and saved myself about $8. And if youre looking for an eyebrow waxing, go to Unique on the same side of holme ave down the street just beyond the roundabout. They do a 10x better job for half the price. The atmospheres nice, always have game shows on, really talented people but its just not worth the wait. I would only go here again in desperation or to hear one of Ann's fairytales.
Fairfield, IA 5.0 star rating Update - 9/18/2012 I want to tell you about an amazing hair care professional. His name is Daniel Citro and he is extremely knowledgeable about hair. His talent really shines when giving a haircut. I am very picky about my hair. I first met Daniel in Princeton NJ. I was referred to him by a skin care specialist who trained and worked in NYC. When I called to make an appointment with him (after going to him twice) I discovered he had left. I made a concerted effort to track him down. I found him at the Adolf Biecker Salon in Philadelphia. When he gives a haircut, my hair looks good without having to use a curling iron, etc. I can blow it dry and it looks great. I have shoulder length plus hair. After he cuts it, when I pull it back, it looks full and even. I can not say that about cuts from some other people I have encountered. I currently live in the Midwest. I wait to get my hair cut when I travel East. If I need to, I just have it trimmed until I can make an appointment with him. Just describe to him what you would like. He will make every effort to accommodate your wishes, but will give you his opinion. I have learned a great deal about caring for and styling my hair by listening to him. Daniel has trained in Italy and has worked and (I believe) trained in New York also. In my opinion, he is highly respected in his profession. If you are looking for someone to give you a truly great haircut, book an appointment with Daniel. Just do it! You won't be sorry. Enjoy! If you are in a hurry and choose the valet parking, they validate your ticket for a 25% discount.
I've been going to this nail salon for years. Now they do good nails and are pretty good with eye brow waxs, but there nail salon is not as clean as it could be. There are always flies flying around fall winter spring summer they're always there at least 10 of them to me that isn't sanitary, and the owner Lynn has the worst attitude ever. She's very short with her customers and doesn't like fixing your nails if they get messed up. Jason is pretty good he does a good job with nails and is very nice. Lynn's husband does nails and he's very rough on your hands, every time he'd do my nails, when he would put nail polish on my cuticles would sting really bad and there is always residue from the crilic all over my fingers. I don't go here anymore because of the owners attitude. I decided not to give Her my money anymore regardless of how well she does nails but my family members still goes they put up with it.
Nail designs to die for! - very unique and expertly painted on nails - designs to fit any personality/occassion. Look for the jigsaw puzzle, animal print, designer symbols, tie dye and candy/food designs (painted on ice cream cones look so real you want to lick your finger!) But if you are looking for customer service, well that's a completely different story. Seems to me that their designs is what keeps the high volume of customers but I believe that it has aslo made them cocky like they don't have to provide good customer service. If ever you go on a Saturday and cannot be there 1/2 hour before the store open then wait for another day - too many people, long wait. Despite their lack of customer service and cash only policy I give them a 5 star rating because of the compliments I get on my hands when I receive services here.
I have been looking for a nail and skin place in the city and after work i was walking on 2nd and chestnut and found a small nail salon called color nails& spa. The place is really, really clean and modern. They offer a great manicure wich includes and hand exfoliation and a nice massage. Price is moderate, because they use top of the line products and extra services includes such as a stond massage while your nails are drying. They also offer facials and body massage, and the facial is AWSOME!! they give you so much service for a reasonable price. when you get your facial the eye brow grooming is included and it was the best shape I ever recieved. I have been to places like toppers and other spas, and compare to color nails and spa they over charge and not as careful. I highly recommend it!
This was the first time I went here and it won't be the last. First impression when seeing the place makes you feel uninvited. But when you step inside the place is clean and friendly. I went at 4pm on a Friday and got a chair right away for a gel manicure. The lady that did my nails did a great job. She started the conversation and made it enjoyable. Her hand and back message were great. Also my nails turned out really well. She never tried selling me other services which was nice bc other places do try that. The gel manicure was $31 and it was worth it. All the prices are listed on the wall right when you come in and they have a good selection of polish colors. They also accept credit card but bring cash for tip ( it's easier). Will go back to try a pedicure next.
This was my first time going to the salon since management changed about 6 months ago. Mindy did my nails and I have to say, I am very very happy with my nails. They look so nice! Definitely will be returning back to Victoria Nails. They were pretty slow in business when I was there, but I just think not alot of people know about them yet. So if you happen to go to Victoria Nails (right on Grant Ave in the shopping center where Miller's Ale House is) be sure to write a review after your visit and tell all your friends about your nail experience at Victoria Nails so they can get more people to enjoy their services as well. They do Acrylic Nail, Pink & White, UV Gel, Manicures, Spa Pedicures, Waxing, Facials, and Massages.
I've been going to Emma for two years for Brazilian waxes after originally shopping around at different salons in Philadelphia, and I still think she is the BEST. Aside from the fact that the wax costs half as much as it does anywhere else, the actual waxing process takes less than five minutes! I'm a huge wimp when it comes to pain and have found that International Salon is the solution, since rather than babying me and drawing out the process Emma is no-nonsense and gets 'er done fast. She even saw me today when I showed up as the salon was trying to close for labor day weekend. Emma and her daughter have been nothing but pleasant toward me and I'd highly recommend the salon.
I have to say that the last time I went to the salon was in August, 2010. The reason is because of the traumatically rude customer service. Emma was fast, I must say. I was done in 15 minutes after getting a full leg and a Brazilian wax. My issue was that she talked to me like I was some kind of delinquent child. She gets it honestly because her mother is an even ruder person. She was actually recommended to me by a friend of mine at work. She really could've warned me. Since I don't have to, I won't be going back there.
Well today I went to the International Salon for a Brazilian.. Natasha did my service. She was nice, professional and very good at what she does. I would recommend this Salon to anyone who is interested in a Brazilian. And the price was so nice. I give them both (Emma and Natasha) high fives they are good at what they do. It was quick I was literally there getting waxed for about 10-13 mins. great time management ...and when I came upstairs there was a client waiting... They get u in and out quicker then Mickey D's !!)
