Well I have to start off by saying that this bakery is great! I always buy the yellow cakes I think they are the best. The yellow cakes are tasty, light and fluffy. You can taste the real butter and extracts that are used to prepare the cake. I really don't care for the pound cake, but that is because I don't like heavy thick cakes from anywhere. I am always confused at birthday parties when the grown ups get the pound cake for the kids, and the kids just lick the iceing off the cake and just leave a block on their plate. Just buy the yellow cake! DUH!!! The cake at the party is not just for you!. The cookies, cupcakes, and dinner rolls from Denises are also delicious. Denises is worth the money, and by the way they are not even that expensive like other upper class bakeries like Bredenbecks etc etc. To me the cake even tastes better. The only negative things I can say about Denises is that the wait to order and pick up is RIDICULOUS!!!! Please find a better way to do things. Sometimes I want a Denises cake but I just simply do not feel like the wait, therefore it pushes me to go to Sams Club and pick up a cake. Please find a better system. Those numbers, long lines out of the door, and terrible parking is torture on your customers. I know that you are getting enough money to expand and get a bigger place. Please try, I still luv you but something has got to give!

Best connolis. I will never travel to south philly and over pay for them anymore. A friend bought them into work and everyone raved about them. I went to their store on Fairdale Rd. I loved the Italian rum cake slice and the cheese cake pop was great. I visit once a week and buy something different everytime. I've always been pleased. I bought my son a birthday cake recently loved the design and was the best pound cake I ever had. I tell everyone about them. Oteri's keed up the good work.
It was a pleasure to work with Millie my cake project. She is a professionally trained cake artist but made the whole process fun and painless. Millie listened to all my hopes and dreams and turned them into a magnificent cake that exceed my expectations. People who don't even like cake, went on and on after they tasted this cake. You can tell she really cares about her work and customers and that is the type of person you want standing behind you on a special day.
I know they have the best cakes in Philly. I've been a long term customer and anytime I mention this bakery to someone they already know and go to Oteris. The cakes are really nice and always taste great. I always see the owner in the store and she is always nice to all her customers. She doesn't know me but she always says hello and ofter gives me a sample taste of something in the store. The gelato is great. Keep up the good work Oteris.
I love this bakery! During the summer, I always get the Angelina, and when they don't have that, I get the chocolate mousse. Delicious! My husband swears by the Cannolis, they're all he ever gets. He says they're the closest to the ones he used to get from his favorite Italian bakery in New York, and that's saying something for him, since he's very picky about his Cannolis! Also, the people there are always very friendly.
I miss Termini's I was always there since I was a little girl. i moved to Florida and ever chance I get I always go back for those amazing Chocolate Covered Banana's. I just was helping my Aunt who live's in Philadelphia with the address to Termini's and I just found out that the mail their tasty treats I hope I can have them sent to Florida,I will have a nice size order every month. I love Terimin's
My wedding cake was absolutely delicious. I went to 3 other bakeries and they wanted about 200 dollars more for the same cake. I thought Oteris cake tasted the best and was very happy with the decorations. I recently ordered a baby shower cake and was thrilled with that also. I also think they have the best connolis. I pay double for them in South Philly but I will go to Oteri's now.
Avant Garde made a custom cake for my mothers 90th birthday. I can only say it was a great decision since weeks after the party, my guests were still complimenting me on the beauty of the cake and on how incredible it tasted. It was two layers, one chocolate and one vanilla and it was moist, tasty, had home made fillings which were awesome and I can't wait to order another one!
Definitely one of the best Bakeries in South Philly! All of their goods are baked fresh and taste amazing. The staff is great and even helped coax my shy daughter to chat. Their prices are reasonable but show up early on Sundays or Holidays or you will most definitely wait in a long line ... it's well worth it though and shows you how many people love their bakes treats!
One of few Hong Kong style bakeries serving the Northeast Philadelphia area. I frequently order freshly made flaky egg tarts $.85 and coconut bread buns $2.25 tray for morning coffee breakfast. There's a wide variety of baked crusty-flavored/paste-filled buns. Steamed buns are also available and sold as ready made refrigerated items. Layered cakes are made to order.
