I have been braiding my hair with Mathilda Hair Braiding Salon for six years and it’s worthy for me. What amazing personality she has: She welcomes her clients with smile, listens to their needs, always makes sure that her braiders are at top and mostly even she is busy, she will finish the head by herself. She’s calm and provides the most entertained shop in south Philly. This is the place we feel as home because it’s cleaned; I can tell you this lady is nice. Here you relax, watch movies: Africans or Americans, watch her styles show mixed with great music and videos, watch TV news, shows or movies, listen to variety of music. So why should I look for another shop? Here's the place to be! And I have so far rated Matilda’s Braiding as five stars shop for my experiences. Besides, the price is subject to only the length, and style.

I went to Matildas after looking at her web page and reviews. I must say the staff is very nice. I asked for small senegalese twist so the middle wouldn't be parted extra big. Okay they were extra big. I went back 3 days later and she fixed the middle with no problem. I explained and showed her how 80% of my twist were crooked and didn't look right. They were not neat and straight. The woman who did my hair said it wasn't nothing wrong with them and when she told the other employees they just didn't say anything. I'm walking around with all these crooked twist in my hair because i can't afford to take them out and go somewhere else. There was no need to argue about it even the new ones she put in are crooked. Matilda is very nice but I would never go back there and i don't recommend anyone to go there not for senegalese twist.
Being the spontaneous individual that I am led me Dave's. As I walked past during one of my lunch hour treks I suddenly decided that I needed a haircut. When I walked in both operators were busy, but one of them assured me that I would be both in and out of her chair if I had 15 minutes to spare because she was almost finished with the seated customer. Normally I don't like to wait for things but her greeting had such an unpretentious and friendly quality to it that I decided to stay. I got a great haircut in the time frame promised. The price was right too. I will definitely be getting my next haircut at Dave's, but next time I think I will make an appointment. Walk-ins can't always get that lucky, even at Dave's.
This shop is the most innovative braiding shop I’ve ever seen in south Philly. Excellent and easy appointment application to allow its clients to request services and the owner is kind and always enthusiastically welcoming her customers. Call anytime and she will receive you! She’s there for people: that’s a real customer service. From braiding to fixing or maintaining she makes sure that her braiders take care of you and sometimes herself. I like my kinky twist and I will definitely be back in two months. Great job Matilda and its Mhbsalon.com !!!!!!.
Does great hair but very very very unprofessional and rude. I recommend whoever that needs a hair stylist, to find someone that will treat them with respect and not hang up on them or yell at them over the phone when it's an issue on their end. I recommend the stylist shakeya and her receptionist to take up some business classes and customer service training. Would give 5 stars but since they were unprofessional .. I give them 2 and I won't be back and I will tell others to find another stylist.
Hey girl, I missed you so much and I will be back in Philly next week. I had tried another shop here is North Carolina, and unfortunately it didn't work out well for me, by the way not only it was expensive but the service was horrible. Matilda, I can’t wait to come you fix my hair for me. I forgot to tell you that I referred some friends to you before I left the town when they were asking about the shop I got my hair done. Love your good work! Did you see the pic I posted on my FB?
I researched several hair braiding salons and Mathilda's Hair Braiding Salon is by far the best one. I met the owner and she is very humble and sweet. Her staff is very professional and friendly. The environment is very home-like. The prices include the hair, style and color of your choice. Worth it and reasonable! I showed up after 4pm with no appointment and she still accepted me and did an excellent job. By the way, if you make an online appointment you get a discount.
I went to get micro braids yesterday, and I am very please with how my hair turned out. Mathilda was very nice and gave me a consultation about my hair before service was performed. This was the first braiding shop I went to that doesn't treat you like a number. The service was excellent, and the staff were very nice and friendly. Sammy did my braids, and she took her time with making sure my braids were on point.
Most people probably have closets bigger than Dave's Salon, but size doesn't matter in this contest. Where else can you call in the morning for a lunchtime appointment, get a much better than barber shop quality haircut, and still have enough money in your pocket for lunch? Dave's is the place. It is tucked behind the MAC machine on south 4th. Highly recommended.
First, I would like to thank the owner Mathilda and the ladies in the braiding salon for a being friendly, patient, and fast. I had to return back to the shop to get my hair fixed. No extra charge. I absolutely love hair. I've had my Senegalese twist in over a month now and my hair still looks fresh. I finally found my go to hair braiding salon.
