Heard about this place through a friend of mine and thought it's about damn time I did something about my gut. My first training session was awesome! It was extremely tiring and I was winded while even the girls were pretty badass for this "beginner" class. It's cool though. Everyone is helpful, including fellow students and the instructors, and the others are really friendly, cool, and encouraging. I stopped by around 5:00 pm and even the way the kids class was taught amazing. Then I returned at 6:30 for the Thursday night beginner class I mentioned above. They have classes for everything. I even got to see some MMA grapling and stuff in the cage they have set up. Key note: Several of the guys in this gym are pro MMA fighters. Cool! Great prices, great instructors, good for beginners and advanced fighters. They have classes for everyone. HIGHLY recommended you check this place. The best way to experience it (even for a first visit), is to just jump in a session and see for yourself. Rich

I’ve always hated going to the gym, but I knew I needed to be more active and more toned to feel better. However, a person cannot maintain a fitness regime if it’s not fun and enjoyable. Not for long anyways. I began my search for that one fun and enjoyable workout about 6 months ago. I’ve tried everything from aerial yoga to pole dancing, and I did not like anything. That is until I found a Groupon for ILKB and decided to give it a try. I was so pleasantly surprised with their kickboxing classes. They were not only fun for me but such a great outlet on stressful days. I became a member not only because I loved the classes but also because the staff there never pushed me too much yet always cheered me on. They are not just fitness instructors but friends as well. ILKB is as they call it a “family”. Once you try a class, you’ll never want to go to a gym or anywhere else. It’s simply the best.
I never liked exercise. I never felt a runner's high. I didn't get excited about going to gym. However, my teenage metabolism is no longer and I needed to be proactive. I noticed this gym was opening in my hood and I decided I would give it shot. Well it actually took about a year before I signed up. I'm slow but determined :) Anyway, this place changed my life. It's more than exercise. It's a community. A group of people, led by the fearless instructors, pushing each other to be better. Sure the classes are great. It's a full body workout and you will sweat. But the instructors are really who set the tone here. They have managed to create an uplifting environment. Even my non-athletic bones feel like I can be Xena after a class. So cheers to this crew. I'm proud to be a member and look forward to losing another 20lbs!
I went to DPT back in 2000 for Network Engineering. We were taught Windows NT which was obsolete about half way through my year there but they couldn't or wouldn't change the curriculum. My teacher quit midway through the course for another job, which sucked. They did get an interview with Comcast for me but it wound being for customer service- internet making 10.00/hr. It wasn't a network job but it was a job. There were just too many graduates from different computer schools and not enough jobs. All in all, I didn't really learn much here and this school, like many others, promises you the world. They are a business, after all, and need to get as many people in the seats as possible. By the way, DPT doesn't offer computer courses anymore. I wonder why?
so glad i found this place with the help of my bff! close to my apt, in northeast philly, GREAT, smart teachers who CARE. Worked with me even after school [i went full-time days 9 til 2 in the pharmacy tech major program] with my bff. we had the BEST time and learned SOOO much! my teachers were the best! Mr. Dean was a trip, Mr. Keys made the pharmacy major interesting i feel like a doctor!! my friends ask ME all these med questions now!! really a fun place to learn + meet others. got hard once but he broke it down so i got it! i never thought i'd say i mess a school but i miss this one! thanks Miss Brenda, Mr. Dean + Nelson and Mr. Keys!!
My 14 year old son has attended Red Tiger Taekwon-Do for the past 4 years after we moved from another state/school. The studio is clean, classes are offered at different times to accommodate different schedules, and there is plenty of parking in an adjacent lot. I love the friendly 'family like' atmosphere and the fact that it is in a convenient location so that I can run errands if I need to while he is attending class. I also like that this location also offers Zumba and Cardio Kickboxing Classes and has a treadmill and free weights so I can also work out. This is a place where you can make health and fitness a family affair.
Becoming a member at I Love Kickboxing Philly has been one of the best choices I have made in my adult life – THEE absolute best when it comes to fitness, health & wellness. It is an incredible, high-energy, motivational and FUN way to get or stay fit. Within my first 3 months as a member, I lost 15 pounds and gained strength, muscle, energy and a hobby that sounds pretty badass! The instructors are amazing, full of personality, and tons of fun and are as diverse as the members. (The diversity is one of my favorite aspects this place.) Anyone can do it, and EVERYONE should!
iLoveKickboxing South Philly is a really close-knit cardio kickboxing gym that takes strangers, puts them in a room together for an hour and everyone leaves as friends. The sense of community the instructors build, make the workout fun and comfortable. Class starts with a boot camp warm up, then stretches, then intense bag work (with gloves), followed by some partner exercises and a cool down. Parking is usually always available (kiosk) on the block. The gym also hosts a variety of events such as theme nights and DJ nights to mix up the regular routine. I love them!
I could go to places closer to me, but I don't. I drive to South Philly, park in fear of PPA and I do it regularly. =) This place is bursting full of positive vibes and good energy. It has become like my neighborhood "cheers". The place you go where everybody knows your name. It is a damn hard workout, and doesn't get easier. The instructors continue to keep you motivated and are approachable for advice. I leave feeling disgusting drenched in sweat EVERYTIME, and I love it. The only thing I've been able to consistently stick with in a long time.
ILKB is great for finding motivation. The instructors are really pumped up and have no problem making sure you get your butt in shape! The gym is nice, people are friendly, and they always try to make things special for us - themed DJ nights, member nights at local establishments, etc. I was in a slump prior to joining and now I've already lost 10 pounds!!! It is a bit expensive, but it IS worth it if you're one of those people that really need a lively, personalized workout to get you going. Recommend!
