Terrible Service. Run! Save your money.
Only went here because I was in desperate need. The place was dirty. The lady was scratching her hair with the comb she was using in my hair. The braids are so tight I took them out a week after getting them in. The lady stopped for 30 minutes in the middle of doing my hair. The place is way over priced and lady had the nerve to ask me for a ride home. Never again
I will never go there again!!! I have been twice only bc I couldn't get anyone else that wasn't busy. Each time I have had to take the lady that does the braids either to her apartment or to pick her kid up from school after she was done with my hair. The place is nasty and she talks on her phone the entire time.
They do NOT deserve even 1 star! PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE! I have gotten my hair braided at Salimatu African Hair Braiding twice. I believe you shouldn't knock something unless you've tried it twice because the first time you don't know what to expect. That being said, I am COMPLETELY done with this establishment and their shady business practices! I got kinky twists that look like crap the same day I got them. Then with a half braided head, they asked me to pay for services. I informed them that I had to run to the ATM (which is located in their parking lot). One of the ladies did not just follow me to the ATM but tried to hop in my car! Um, no ma'am! Who does that? Then I also got tree braids which I was charged $170 for human hair. It clearly NOT human hair! And when I spoke to the owner and informed them that the hair they claimed was human was indeed not, they proceeded to argue me down that it was! Anyone who wears braids knows that human hair can be curled with a curling iron, flat iron, etc. Not this hair! It melts when curled, which leads me to believe that is synthetic. Even after all of that, they didn't even offer to fix the situation and proceeded to tell me that there is nothing they can do! WTF? After having to spend hours listening to African music videos and their unruly children running around, there is nothing they can do?! PLEASE DO NOT GO TO SALIMATUR AFRICAN HAIR BRAIDING SALON!
I WENT ON SEPT 1, 2012 TO GET SOME KINKY TWIST, AND THE BRAIDS LOOKED BAD THE SAME DAY. A WEEK LATER THE BRAIDS WERE COMING OUT, AND MY REAL HAIR WAS STICKING OUT EVERY WHERE..... I WENT BACK TO THEM, AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD FIX IT. I WAS SO UPSET I JUST DECIDED THAT I DIDN'T EVEN WANT THEM TO PUT THERE HANDS IN MY HEAD EVER AGAIN. THE PARTS WERE BIG IN MY HEAD, AND IT JUST DIDN'T LOOK LIKE GOOD QUALITY BRAIDING. I USE TO USE Salimatu African Hair Braiding A FEW YEARS AGO, AND I USE TO LIKE THEM, BUT THEY REALLY HAVE CHANGE..... WITH ALL THE AFRICAN BRAIDING SALONS ALL OVER...........PLEASE DON'T GO TO Salimatu African Hair Braiding !!!!! (IT'S SAD THAT THEY WANT TO CHARGE $180 FOR KINKY TWIST, AND THE BRAIDS LOOK LIKE A 5 YEAR OLD BEEN PLAYING IN YOUR HEAD)
