Want a home to get into quick? No problem! These people love to rush you into your poorly made home just to get their paycheck. My husband and I built our second home with Meritage with in 2 years of building our first. (Our mistake) We recently added to our family and felt we should expand our home. We had such a good experience with our first home we knew this is where we wanted to go. This time we were given a new construction manager. We had numerous issues along the way of building of our new home (one includes a misunderstanding on the "design center", the construction manager was unwilling to fix the mistake (which was on their end) and was very unprofessional responding back to our questions of what had happened, after coming to an "agreement" things were finally "settled") we have been in our new home for 5 1/2 months and we keep finding more and more problems. Carpet has already buckled, kitchen cabinets are all hung incorrectly, and this is only the beginning of the rushed job and laziness this company has provided for us. One issue that we are running into this time around is the amount of tires on our vehicles that have popped due to the lack of cleaning the streets. We are on our third tire purchase in less than 6 months. They have refused to help reimburse any payments of any sort as it's a "construction zone" and they have people "who walk around and look for stuff in the road"!!!! The trash from the workers that is in our lawn continuously being blown daily is unbelievable. My husband and I completely understand that things happen, but the lack of customer service after you get into your home and they get your money leads me to write this review of disappointment.

We used the Vice Brothers for two major renovations / additions on our home. Without the use of an architect, the work looked like it was original to the house. Theywere timely, dependable, responsive, tidy, pleasent, and did beautiful work. We love both of our projects, one now at least 9 yrs. o…
Apparently they don't need the business. It takes them too long to return phone calls, doesn't answer the phone in a professional manner and can't find time to follow-up on a lead. Maybe someone else will have better luck.

I am a Realtor with almost 10 years experience and had one of the worst interactions with two sales agents at Gehan in Avalon, Katy and Melodie. My clients had chosen a plan and a lot and were ready to sign a contract when we went in. They only had a week left in town to get into the design center. We were told that they would need to leave a $3000 earnest check (normal) plus a $7000 check for the deposit on their structural changes that same day. Since they had not yet seen the design options available, or spoken with the preferred lender (they were very qualified, but a financing contingency is still important), we were told that the $3000 could be returned if they didn't qualify but the $7000 was absolutely non-refundable. They then told us THEY were taking the risk, and made no effort to either let my clients do an installment on the $7k or at least take a glimpse at the design center before handing it over. Katy seemed to have very little knowledge of the contract in general when we asked questions. Melodie was just negative and adversarial in general. Neither seemed to want to make this almost $350k sale happen. Finally after one of the worst customer service experiences with a builder I've ever seen, my client basically told them he was taking his business elsewhere and walked out. We signed with another builder the following day....with the normal process and assurances (other builder took earnest money at contract, and deposits after design center visit. They also offered an installment plan). Be VERY careful with this builders policies if you go without a Realtor, and I hope the Gehan looks at replacing Melodie with a more customer service oriented sales agent. I do a lot of new construction sales, and will be avoiding this builder with my clients in the future.
