I was unsure of what to expect when I got there, I had to have my wife with me to help me choose there was so much selection. The Staff was friendly and really tried to help us make our selection within our budget. The guy who measured our house came out with some kind of 3d measuring device. The granite we choose paired perfectly with our floor and cabinets. I couldn't find the 1 seam they had put for about 5 minutes. I was impressed.
I have an outdoor island that I needed granite for I had a couple of companies tell me that it would be difficult to get the piece down into the backyard and they wanted to place a seam in it. Universal Marble and Granite said it was no problem and it didn't hurt that they had better prices. So we gave them a try and were very impressed.
Their granite prices were reasonable but I was left very disappointed. The "Template team" was one employee with a tape measure. No template was made and I brought it to their attention. After they assured me everything was fine, in writing, the sink was 4" off. I wasn't surprised. An installer (professional/polite) promised a "care package" due to all of the problems (not all are mentioned in this review) but I never received it. I purchased 2 sinks from them but they failed to tell me that I was restricted to the type and location of the faucets until the night before the install. I returned the overpriced dishwasher bracket ($50!) which you can buy online for $12 and they returned the next business day (2 hrs late) with a new counter. The counter was installed with more than a 1/2" gap between the counter and backsplash. A different installer (very rude) told my wife I would have to "build out the wall" for the backsplash! What? In addition, I was less than satisfied with the seam. Although it was in a better location than expected, it was uneven to the touch and the color was poorly matched. The installers not only demanded a check from my wife, but an additional $90 despite the invoice. The installer rolled his eyes at my wife when she requested he sign off that he was given the additional $90 cash. This was a discount offered which the installers apparently weren't aware. A different installer (Nacho) came back a third time (professional/polite) and simply forced the "L" shaped counter into the corner, causing the bar at the end to lean out slightly. This could have been avoided and done correctly if the "Template team" actually made a template. He darkened the seam which was a big improvement. It was not the installer's fault, but he did not bring a refund check as promised. I was then promised the refund check would be in the mail the same day and an email would be sent to me with the check number. After almost 6 months without a kitchen, I was forced to settle, out of a need to move forward to a functional kitchen. I never received a follow-up call after the installer left for the final time to see if I was satisfied. I never received an email with the refund check number and it took a month for me to receive the check for $90. Not a way to do business. 2 stars for some of the installers being professional/polite and the quality of the granite itself. My impression was their biggest concern wasn't customer satisfaction, following through on their promises or taking the time to complete the job correctly. I don't see myself doing business with them again.
