The Oar House

This is only the second review I have ever posted. The first was about a bad experience at a store but really came on here to write about the Oar House. First they offer a Military discount which is wonderful. I love the idea that anyone and everyone support our Military every day of the year! Now having said that, the view is spectacular and the food is really good. We usually go here on weekday to avoid crowd and have always had great service and the atmosphere goes from slightly boisterous (friendly comradery) to peaceful and calm - either is always good fun.

Great location and place. However management allows people to be threaten and harassed

As a waitress/bartender myself I have always been told from Managers if you talk about customers that you would lose your job. Well my fiance' has been working out there for the oil spill. There has been several nites that he and his crew members have went in and ate and/or had few drinks. He has always sd that the service was good and the bartenders very friendly (Tiffany and Shannon) up until recently. There has been two servers/bartenders (Lindsey and Amber) goin around and spreading rumors about hi and several of his crew members. One of the girls has been fired but the other still works there. Needless to say my fiance' nor any of his crew members will be goin back until she is fired too!!!

We went in for a late lunch and should have passed. It seems that the crew was changing shift as the waitress who took our drink order was not the one who waited on us for our meal. we only ordered fried food but it seems we got left overs from the kitchen. Half the food was cold half was not. It took 35 min. to get our meal and there were only 6 other people in the place at the time. We really gave this place a try, multiple times, but have dissapointed again and again. We won't be going back.

I loved the way this restaurant looks. It is all outside... like being under a tiki hut. The food is great, bands play on certain nights, it has a volleyball court on white sand, right on the water.

The only bad thing I have to say about this resturant is that every time I have been there... it seems to take forever to get our food. the prices can be a little high.. but just being there is worth it. I think maybe if they trained their hostesses and waitresses to work a little harder/faster.. it would have been a perfect experience!

Best shrimp and mullet in the area. Lunch prices are good, dinner seems a little high. Very friendly staff and owner. Smell from nail salon next door can be a nuisance.
