When I bought my boat, I was referred to Affordable Marine and met the owner, Jeff. He is very knowledgeable, thorough, and professional with his expertise on boat repair and maintenance. His rates are very reasonable and he has quality workmanship. He goes above and beyond and is attentive to detail I highly recommend him and his business if you are looking for a boat mechanic. - Don

I just purchased a boat that was serviced my affordable marine april of last year for its 200 hour service. Motor is a 300 Yamaha. I was given copies of all receipts of service. I took these receipts to my marine mechanic to verify it has been properly maintained. Upon inspection of part numbers my mechanic noted the part number for the water pump to be for a smaller motor. He also assessed the motor screws which drop the lower unit appeared to be brand new and without any paint missing which is an indicator they had never been removed. Although this receipt would make us think that we had another 100 hours for the water pump our concerns after these findings were enough to go ahead and change it out. Thank God we are not gamblers when it comes to our brand new boat. What my mechanic found proved the pump had not been changed in April of 2017 as written on this receipt. The impeller was about to fall apart and had we went out in the gulf and this failed it would have been a very expensive bill. I'm less than impressed and can not believe someone would take money for a service where you are trusted to care for someone's property and not do it. On what planet is it okay to do this? Even though i wasnt the person who used this company I felt it my responsibility to let the public know to be careful who you trust with your boat motor! Shame on you affordable marine
I started using Jeff close to ten years ago. I have entrusted him to service , maintain and repair two boats over that time frame. The first one was a 29 foot Chaparral cruiser with twin inboard-outboards. The second one was a 31 foot Pursuit with twin Yamaha outboards. I continue to be impressed with the knowledge Jeff has on a variety of boats and motors. I have recommended Jeff to many of my friends over the years and I have not had one come back to me being disappointed with the service Jeff has provided them. Jeff has always been available by phone on weekends to help trouble shoot boat or motor issues I may be experiencing. One thing I truly respect Jeff for is that if something isn’t fixed right the first time (very rarely does this occur) he will work with you til it is fixed. On top of the excellent and prompt service he delivers....Jeff is also a genuinely good person to work with. I highly recommend Jeff to anyone who is need of their boat (big or small) to be maintained, serviced or repaired.
Both my brother and myself would never take our boats to anyone other than Jeff @ Affordable Marine. He's kept my family on the water safely year after year. Some of these reviews sound like begrudged competitors. Stand up and honest business people shouldn't stoop so low as to bad-mouthing other businesses via the internet!
Never let Affordable Marine Service work on any of your boats or motors because they will give you nothing but the run around and not fix anything! Plus charge you a lot of money with nothing to show for it.Affordable Marine Service has had our Mercruiser 454 motor, transmission and parts since February 27, 2013 (that is not a misprint). He originally told us he would have our engine back to us within 30 days. We called and called him and he would not answer our calls. Went over to his business several times and no one was there during posted working hours for about 3 months or so. Then we had the Marina call him and he would pick up the phone immediately. He kept giving us more and more excuses why he didn't have our motor and transmission back. Three months later he said our motor was running fine, then he said all we needed was the oil dipstick and the motor was still running fine. We paid him $2188.82 for the parts he said it had needed and the engine was still supposedly running fine, still waiting for a dipstick months later. Then he tells us it blew a valve. We then paid $177 for a head we purchased at his request. Then 3 months later, we called him and he finally called us back and told us that it was not the correct head, but for $500 he could get a set of heads from a machine shop and we okayed that purchase. Then he called us about two months later that those weren't the right heads either and now he is telling people that we are responsible to get the heads when we hired him to fix the motor. After that, we had asked him to return our motor, transmission and all the parts to the marina and he set up the time and day. That day he didn't show up. He had his wife call us about a half hour after we were there and told us that he went to a "service call" and we would have to get back to him to reset up a date. We told her NO and hung up. He called back at the same number just a few minutes later and we didn't pick up our phone. He told us on our voice mail that we should come to his shop to pick it up. We wanted it delivered to the marina because we don't trust him at all. Now he is telling us he is going to sell our motor and transmission which supposedly isn't working yet if we don't pay him an additional $854.73 without the engine and transmission being repaired.Don't USE THEM! Find a reliable repair shop. Affordable Marine Service ISN'T AFFORDABLE or RELIABLE!
Be very wary of dealing with Affordable Marine Services. 4 years ago I had paid them $950 for shrink wrapping our 33' boat for an east coast haul. I had called in advance to confirm the boat was shrink wrapped so I could order the haul. I was told the boat was shrink wrapped. The day of the haul, the hauler called me to say the boat was not shrink wrapped. When I call Jeff at Affordable Marine he said he had paid another company to shrink wrap the boat and that I was out of luck. Because I had the haulers there already and was paying their time, I had to have the boat hauled. I had called Affordable Marine numerous times the following months with no pick up or return of my messages. I ended up taking them to court and had a judgment for the amount owed plus expenses for damage during shipping due to the boat not being shrink wrapped. After several more months of calling I finally was able to get a check for $300 with a promise to pay the balance of $650 (I was nice enough to waive the additional court judgment of $900 if he just refunded what I paid). Again, numerous months of calling and then another check for $300. Since that time I have not received the balance of my payment and when I did finally get Jeff on the phone, the insults and language targeted at me were horrific. I was the one who paid HIM $950 and I couldn't get my money back for work he did not perform...and I was being cursed at!!!! BEWARE OF DOING BUSINESS WITH AFFORDABLE MARINE - ESPECIALLY IF YOU PAY UPFRONT.
Awesome, timely, friendly and fair! We've done business with them for years. Wonderful family and good business!
Don't take your boat to Sunset Marine, a.k.a. Outboard Salvage, in Pensacola. Took my boat in for an outboard check up and got it back unusable. Never had a problem with leaking oil, got it back leaking a lot of oil. Water pressure gauge was working, got it back not working. They changed a relay switch for the tilt, wasn't having a problem with the tilt when it went in, and the other switch casing looked melted when I got it back. Grease and oil all over the motor and back of boat when I got it back. $400 bill to get an unusable boat back that only went in for a check up, now I have to take it somewhere else for repair. Don't take your boat here for anything. Do a thorough online review search on this place, I did it too late. Reported to BBB, no reply, no refund, nothing.9-27-16 update: took my boat to another mechanic, he said that the "work" Sunset Marine claimed they did, they didn't do. Impeller was never changed because it showed wear. The foot oil was never changed.
He can fix problems that others in town could not. Reasonably priced. Very easy to deal with. Would recommend to anyone.
Great prices and fast shipping!
