- Since 1914, Wittichen Supply Company has been a wholesale distributor of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration parts, equipment and supplies. Based in Pelham, Ala., the company pioneered the first use of anhydrous ammonia, sulfur dioxide and methyl chloride for refrigerant systems in 1993. The clientele of the firm includes DuPont, Allied Chemical Company, Honeywell, Johns Manville, Klein Tools, White Rogers, Johnson Controls and Tecumseh Compressors. The two goobers that work the counter at Pelham spent no less than 10 minutes shooting breeze with each other, then take a phone call from another location to spend another 5 minutes making fun of the way the guy on phone talks, before finally helping me. Never asked what I needed. I had to ask for help. If I owned this place I would let both of these guys hit the road.
