It took us several weeks to book dinner at The Optimist and we were really looking forward to it. We were impressed when arriving. We had requested the Chef's table, but there wasn't one, so we were seated where we had a view of the kitchen. We love to watch the chefs so this was perfect to meet our request. The appetizers were good, the cocktails were average. Although we had a pleasant waitress, she did forget one of our crudo items that came after the entree. Our entrees were both fish; one swordfish that was cooked perfectly, and Cobia, which was not. The Cobia was raw in the center and very disappointing coming from a Ford Fry restaurant. My expectations were set high for this restaurant and although they did many things "right", they also had some mistakes and there was nothing to set the dining bar as I had expected. We do not mind paying higher prices for a great "experience", but this was really a let down as to what we've come to expect from a Ford Fry restaurant.
Went in for lunch Friday at 1:30, only one table had people sitting, a table of 7. I stood there at the foyer entrance for a few minutes then (sat myself). Waitress came brought me a water and took my order, last I saw of her. I filled my own water again at the bar and after 45 minutes someone from the kitchen brings out my order, it had the wrong side, I didn’t say anything since I had to get back to work. Again filled my own water at the bar, and found my original waitress at the back cleaning tables. I asked her for the check, she said Ok. Another 10 minutes go by, she’s still cleaning. I went to the bar left $13 (my best estimate) with the bartender and left. Huge waste of time. The food was good, the place was clean. Owner, your location is great, your menu looks good, you spent a ton of money on furniture and TV's but service like this will drive us luncher's away. Some of us eat lunch at a place before we bring our friends and family.
Came here for a midweek dinner with some colleagues, and it did not disappoint! I had the shrimp cocktail appetizer. The shrimp were plump and fresh, and the cocktail sauce was flavorful. For my entree, I had broiled Bali Barramundi. Never heard of this before, but I was feeling adventurous. I topped it was the jumbo lump crab oscar. Once again, the seafood was fresh. The staff was extremely attentive. When I got up to freshen up in the powder room, they came and cleaned the very few crumbs that were on the table and re-folded my napkin for me. Dessert was the Crème Brûlée, and I enjoyed it as well. The server suggested the Dr. Loosen Blue Plate Riesling, and it was divine. And to top things off--We asked the hostess to call a cab for us, and she got us black car service instead. Granted, it was a few more dollars more. But it was like the perfect end to a great evening. All in all, I had a wonderful experience and will certainly be back.
On 9/21/2011 my office attend a dinner program at the atlanta location, we frequently go to the Oceanaire. But yesterday as we were wating for our second course an uninvited dinner guess happend to join us! A mouse scurried across the floor and made several apperances! We alerted the manager, and he and the wait staff "tried" to corner it and catch it, but to no avail! What astonished me, was that manager was not sympathetic, he did not apologize either! He just stated 'oh, thats the same mouse from outside" and that makes it ok? also the wait staff was very slow in getting food to our table, service as a whole was terrible! The rep. that sponsered that dinner was so upset and kept apolizing to us, and it was not her fault! I reccommend that staff at Oceanaire take better care of their patrons, and respond more quickly when there is and issue, such as uninvited guest!
I visited Fontaine's Oyster House for the first time with a new friend. I valeted my car for free nearby which was very convenient. We sat outside on the terrace and it was beautiful! Our server was excellent- he was not only attentive and friendly but was extremely helpful as I dove blindly into the wine list. The west coast raw oysters (Kumamoto) we started with were AMAZING! Perfectly petite and just the right amount of salinity. We also ordered the lobster roll, shrimp, scallops, and mussels to share. All cooked and seasoned to perfection. Ask for extra bread with the mussels so you can sop up all of the delicious broth!! Overall, the experience could not have been better. I will be back very, very soon!
This is my Monday night after work spot. Each and every Monday they have Martini Monday where all Martinis are just $5. They also have a tapas menu that goes great with the drinks. The servers are alway nice and they make you feel welcomed. I normally sit at the bar because I enjoy meeting new people and each time I come here I have a great conversation with someone. You must try the fried goat cheese and the watermelon salad these are two must have dishes. They also have the normal dinner menu that you can order from during this time as well. This is just a great spot so, you want go wrong dining here. Make sure you drop in on a Monday and bring some friends.
Meh. This place isn't BAD, so I'll give them a break, but it's not amazing. I think the other location on the other side of town has better service and a better atmosphere, but the food just lacks all around. If you're going to serve up seafood and spicy stuff, I'm going to need some serious seasoning and marinating happening. Anything fried on the menu is pretty good, though. As for the service, horribly slow and forgetful. I'm not sure what these folks are doing. It's just very laid back as a whole so I think they assume you watching a football game there means you don't want your food in any hurry.
This restaurant is off the hook! I never though anyone could make crawfish from Atlanta taste like it was actually cooked on the streets of New Orleans without actually being in New Orleans. Crawfish shack really did accomplish cooking their crawfish with New Orleans’s original recipe. The store is clean and the customer service is very well customer oriented. They also have other great seafood selection if crawfish isn’t our taste. The best part is getting to choose the fresh piece of seafood and they can deep fry it just the way you like it – golden, crispy, and FRESH!!!
I came here for lunch. And I don't know if it was because it was a pretty Friday afternoon, but the place was packed--especially outside! Fortunately, I was meeting with a regular at the restaurant and we were seated quickly. The seafood was fresh and the service was great. We had oysters as an appetizer, and the blue crab salad for my entree. I really enjoyed it. I was trying to be good and not order a cocktail (since it was a lunch meeting and all), but the punch bowls that you can share sounded interesting. I'll definitely be back to give one of those a try.
I've been to Lure twice: once at night and once during the day with the SAME GUY on date night. The food is amazing. I wasn't sure I liked oysters, but I fell in love with them at Lure. Note: $1 dollar oysters and cocktail menu during happy hour. Then I dived into their mussels and ordered the sole with capers - yummy!!! I wish they would bring back their earl grey dessert - petite, strong, and delightful. They have complimentary valet parking and you can enjoy the chic ambiance inside or outside. You won't be disappointed.
