This restaurant is perfect for a first date. The wine list is extensive and the staff is really interested in helping you find something you like without trying to up charge. That being said, they still have pretty pricey wine. Every single bottle on their menu you can get by the glass, even the $500 dollar bottles. They have an air filtration system that keeps the wines fresh without letting the oxygen touch them. This information was all given to me by a very friendly and helpful waiter. On to the atmosphere. This restaurant is very urban chic. It has exposed ceilings but the booths are actually plush couches that feels like you are lounging on them. The lighting is perfect. Dark enough to be intimate but light enough to see what you're eating. On to the food. Our food was delicious. I tried the Orecchiette pasta. Now it takes something special for me to like a dish if it contains onions. This one did. And it was so worth me picking through them. I even took what I couldn't eat home. My boyfriend got the short rib ravioli which was awesome, and we decided we'd agree to disagree on who's was better. The single complaint I had was that the bread came out cold and not fresh baked. The olive oil to dip it in was a nice touch though.
went to La Grotta again tonight. The food and service were amazing as usual and it made for nice ""people watching"" seeing as how Ashton Kutcher, …

Great spot for happy hour! The food is also great with an awesome variety of Italian flavors. The bruschetta is amazing and a great appetizer to sha…
This is the ultimate date night restaurant! A little pricey for me but well worth the money spent, maybe save it for a special occasion or when you're trying to impress a special someone. The atmosphere is fresh and airy like most places in Ponce City Market. The hostess and waiting staff are super trendy and friendly (Ask for suggestions! They won't disappoint!) We started with wine and the Parmesan oysters. I'd honestly eat the oysters as a main meal if they served a larger portion, they were incredible! For dinner I had a tough time choosing between the risotto and the gnocchi, luckily my date felt the same way so we got both and shared. The gnocchi was definitely the better of the two. It had a little bit of spice and the flavor was indescribable. The risotto was still delicious but didn't' have the same colorful flavor. Will definitely be back after my next paycheck.
This location is the original and still the best. They've got great salads and mix and match pastas - pick your pasta and sauce and you're off. My favorite is gemelli with pecorino and lemon. In the beginning they made their pasta fresh and it was to die for. As they've grown I believe they've gotten away from this but I can barely notice (though others might disagree). The atmostphere is great. All dinners come with bread and olive oil. They only have one beer on draft but its fittingly Italian and they've got a few other bottled selections to choose from. The house wine hits the spot too. Lastly, the prices, while not cheap are reasonable for the quality you get. I make an effort to get to a FIGO at least once a month and their expansion to new locations make this much easier. I do lament the closing of their VaHi location. That was the closest and my favorite.
We went here for our anniversary and it was a really great choice! The owner and the waitstaff really make you feel special- everyone greets you and with such personality you can't be but happy! A more intimate table, extra roses and photos came when they found out it was our special day. It feels like you're in a hole in the wall in NY's Little Italy, but on steroids. It's got a really fun vibe that got crazier after the 8pm hour, so go to the back if you want serenity! The lobster bisque was out of this world! The arugula salad was just the right lighter touch while the fish was good although I can't say excellent. I'd skip the tirimisu next time- a bit disappointing, but the espresso was a nice finishing touch. Overall a really great, fun experience. We'll be looking for another occasion to come back!
Ecco is one of my absolute favorite Midtown Restaurants. The atmosphere, service and selection is absolutely perfection. When you know you could come here every night, you realize you are in the right place. The restaurant has a very high profile vibe as if alot of deals are made here or youre coming to congratulate yourself on a job well done. The wines are also perfect compliments for every item on the menu. Ecco has a hip-hop fun vibe as servers wear black aprons with blue jeans and starched shirts. You must try the fried goat balls with cracked pepper and drizzled in honey...unbelievable! The restaurant has plenty of seating for your larger parties, with advance notice, of course. A must if you're staying at the Palomar Hotel or live nearby.
Cafe Intermezzo has a few locations, including one at the airport, but this one is located in Midtown on Peachtree and 11th. There is parking available at a deck nearby, and they'll validate your ticket for you before you leave. Intermezzo has a European flair, making you feel like you're in a dark cafe somewhere on the streets of Paris. They have a pretty large menu, including coffee + cocktails, crepes, sandwiches, salads, entrees, etc. They also offer wifi, so it's a good place to work or take a lunch meeting during the day. At night it's a bit more focused on dinner and cocktails, with a nice semi-covered patio if the weather is good!
Pasta Vino has the Best Baked Ziti pasta, unbelievable goat cheese ravioli pasta dish, garlic knots to die for and a fun, friendly atmosphere to boot. Whether dining in or on the great patio, it is always a treat to go to Pasta Vino. The food is fresh, never frozen or microwaved, homemade there in the kitchen and served to order. The wine list is good but that is not why I go to dinner...I love the environment at Pasta Vino which is kind of like the real Italian Tratorias where everyone knows your name or pretends like they do! The recent upgrades are nice and we absolutely love the fresh potato chips!
Fritti serves gourmet pizzas and other fried italian items in a beautiful space at the corner of elizabeth and highland in inman park. With a lot of new construction in the area, condos and such, I imagine the place will continue to be very busy. Their patio is lovely on a warm afternoon, and their pizzas are quite good--especially if you choose simple toppings whose quality you can appreciate. I tend not to like their seafood or heavier toppings, as the tastes compete too much. An excellent choice that is more affordable than the neighbor Sotto Sotto, which I believe is owned by the same people.
Ladies!! Must come for ladies nights on Wednesday...complimentary sangria or house wine with any entree. This pizza place has a really creative atmosphere, good thin crust pizzas, and great salads. It is a nice place that does not damage your wallet to go out with friends or before an event. Several servers and bartenders were very informative on food entrees and quick with service. It is nice to come with a group to have appetizers and drinks, then split a few pizzas. Great new place in midtown without the snobs or ridiculous prices, so I keep coming back!
This is the only restaurant in Ponce City Market that accepts reservations, so if you're looking for a plan, this is your spot! Love the atmosphere here, bright and open with tons of pretty lights. I love the gnocchi and pizzas. Don't miss Brezza for brunch - Saturday is a normal brunch, but Sunday brunch is buffet style and all you can eat. It does get crowded on weekend nights without reservations, but you can normally find a spot at the bar or sneak a table at some of the first-come, first-serve options toward the left side of the restaurant.
