The dispatcher who took my reservation was surly. I was recently hospitalized and under doctor's orders not to drive. I was trying to get to the train station to get to Manhattan for a follow up care appointment. When the cab was late, I called to find out where he was. The dispatcher called him and he was nowhere near my house and they gave me a cross street which I never was asked about nor had I ever heard of. Having no option but miss my appointment or drive, I was forced to drive myself. DO NOT USE LINDY'S TAXI, THEY ARE HORRIBLE!
We were shocked at the level of service when it came to this company. More so to find out how the quick-to-hang-up on you mid-sentence dispatcher dictates the level of "customer service" he thinks you deserve. Tonight is not a one night horror story, but the last straw in a colossal hay stack. A classic case of Lindy's "customer service" in action. Calling a solid 30 minutes before the last train to Penn Station & making it clear to dispatch, Ed, that my destination was time sensitive (10min drive), he left me with only 10min to spare. I thought it was an appropriate time to call back and check the ETA of my car. I was told my calling didn't help the cab arrive any sooner. After 5min came and went, I called again, my call swiftly ended, I couldn't even get the words out to cancel. My train left & I gave up. Out of courtesy, my boyfriend called Ed explaining that this experience the norm. He was told that he was harassing Ed and was once again threatened with a cancellation. GO UBER.
They are nasty rude liars they have a driver that stinks constantly (horrible B.O). They say 20min knowing it will take an hour before someone gets there and then have the nerve to get an attitude when you call back to find out how much longer you will be waiting and this is not the first time I've had problems with them. Too bad I can't give ZERO stars.
I don't doubt anything in the other review from 2007, but my experiences with this company have mostly been good. The other review was written over seven years ago, and Lindy's may have changed dispatchers since then. With any taxi company, a different dispatcher makes all the difference in the world.
I have used Lindy's many times and found their service to be prompt and reliable most of the time. Sometimes they've pulled up within three minutes of being called! The dispatcher tries to give honest time estimates over the phone, and sometimes the cab comes quicker than estimated.
However, be aware that, strange as this sounds, you may get quicker service from Patchogue Lindy's if you flag one of them down than if you call them. One time I called a Lindy's cab and within minutes I spotted a Lindy's cab and waved it down. The driver asked if I was the person who called, and I said I was. I was told to get out and wait for the specific Lindy's cab that was assigned to me. So, if I had NOT called and simply flagged the cab when I saw it, I would have gotten home sooner!
UNRELIABLE SERVICE, with CONFUSED dispatchers who state arrival times that they don't mean. Use LINDY'S only if you have time to waste. I called. politely, after missing an appointment because they were ONE HOUR later than promised. GOT YELLED AT FOR NOT BEING UNDERSTANDING. Real louts!!!
