Friends and neighbors: NEVER EVER TAKE YOUR COMPUTER REALLY CHEAP GEEKS. The manager is a verbally abusive NUT. I find this statistic unbelievable. Their customer service is NON-EXISTENT. Not only is the customer never right but they can be hung up on and verbally abused. It was f... this and f... that and that wasn't good enough. He (The manager) kept shouting it at me with more f...ing, f...ing... f...ing. I had put a review on THUMBTACK.COM stating my issue and that the service man had hung up on me. After getting verbally abused by the crazed manager the service man stated I had accusing he of cheating me and cussed HIM out. He could not get my computer to charge (he said it did when it let his store). I asked for my old battery back (took him five minutes to find). HORRIBLE.
Took my iPhone in to replace my screen. They stripped out one screw hold and didn't put the other screw in. They said it was like that before I took it to them. Strange that it was never messed with until they had it.
I TOOK MY LAPTOP TO THEM DID A GOOD JOB ON IT. SO GOOD IM TAKEING MY HOME COMPUTER TO THEM.IM SORRY ABOUT YOUR LUCK BUT THINGS DO GO WRONG.LIFE IS NOT GOOD ALL THE TIME.IF YOU CAN NOT SAY SOMETHING GOOD . (DONT SAY IT) THANK YOU CHEEP GEEKS
Do not deal with these people. Pretty much scam artist...bate and switch tactics. Won't do refunds after they sell you crap. Stay away!!!
Granted, my needs were very simple, turned out I just needed a new magsafe power cord for my mac. However, I have to say that I found my interaction with Really Cheap Geeks a pleasant one. I went there hoping for the best but knowing that if I needed something more technical they could do it. They went strait for the easiest answer, didn't try to milk me for more services or parts. They even offered to look around for a used magsafe to save me money. They were professional, courteous, friendly, and quick to take care of the problem. While I can't speak to their technical services I think their customer service was great. If I had a more serious problem I would take it to them.
I received a laptop for a customer where Really Cheap Geeks had worked on the laptop and told the customer that the computer had a bad hard drive and the computer was not worth saving;;;it also had a broken hinge on the screen. They sold the customer a used laptop that the customer had nothing but trouble with. The customer brought both laptops to me to look at and I fixed the 1 they said had the bad hard drive......which nothing was wrong with the hard drive... and also fixed the screen hinge that they said could not be fixed. As for the used one they sold them for $300.00 .....someone had stripped the laptop..... took it from 4GB of ram to 1 GB of ram and then the hard drive was a 320GB it went to a 120GB. This use laptop had been stripped of it hardware had ALL the users information and pictures on it. I guessing when they got it in on trade they didn't remove and of the user data. A very poor way to run a computer business. I an sure that some people have had some good luck at Really Cheap Geeks... but to me, telling people they have a bad hard drive and saying the laptop is not worth fixing and then selling them another one with someone information and pictures on it is way passed a problem I can over look. Please be careful using Really Cheap Geeks because that is what you will get.....a cheap geek!
I called these guys about replacing the keyboard on my mother's laptop and installing pre-purchased RAM on my late-2011 model MacBook Pro. They gave me a quote of $35 for the keyboard and $20 for installation of the RAM, which I thought was a steal. I dropped the computers off and picked them up a little while later and they refused to take my money for installing the RAM. He even showed me how to easily clean up my MacBook so it'd run a little faster. Very nice guys. I'll be going back to them in a few weeks when I upgrade my hard drive in my MacBook.
I have always considered myself to be a bit of a geek. So when my system crashed, I thought I could figure the issue out myself. Well, a couple of hours and too many headaches later, I gave up and called my Really Cheap Geeks. Within a few hours, a technician had the situation diagnosed and though my computer wasn't salvagable, Really Cheap Geeks hooked me up with one that better suited my needs, at a fair price and great service. They didn't try to get me to install other options on my older unit, at addition pricing or upgrades. Really appreciate the service and honesty.
I had a problem with my PC restarting. I thought it was a fan problem. They checked it out and said the fans were ok. I was surprised "NO CHARGE". Very happy with them and will be a repeat customer
