All it takes is a little preparation to get your car winter-ready and to keep from getting into an icy situation.
It’s time to bring long sleeves and long pants out of storage, prep your home and car, and contact the cool weather home/yard contractors.
Mario/M&M Mobile Mechanic is a GODSEND!!!! Don't allow any negative feedback that you read in these reviews, to keep you from calling him if/when you need any type of automobile repair! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and have their personal level of expectations (similar to a movie getting RAVE REVIEWS and you might think it stunk, or vice versa). So, moving right along with my own personal experience with Mario and the service he provided... First, and foremost, he was very personable when we spoke on the telephone. We were disconnected, and he immediately called me back. Please note we were BOTH on cell phones! He arrived at my home exactly when he said he would... actually, he was EARLY! It was my roommate's car that was having trouble, and it was the only source of transportation we had (since my truck had not been running since December due to a transmission problem). Mario checked the car and gave the exact diagnosis that my roomie had received from one of the local, well-known auto repair shops. However, the estimate he provided was a couple of hundred dollars LESS!!!!! He made some calls from the driveway, and off we went to purchase & pick up parts! I just want to note that along the way, he respectfully asked if I minded if he made a phone call. As it turns out, the phone call was a follow-up call to a customer he had repaired his vehicle a couple of days prior! That, to me, is GREAT BUSINESS! I, too, have been on the receiving end of Mario’s follow-up phone calls… NOT ONCE; BUT TWICE! After successfully repairing my roommate’s car, and proving to be a very knowledgeable and cost-effective Professional, I wondered if he would be able to tackle a large and complicated job like repairing my truck’s transmission! After receiving an extremely reasonable quote and the assurance that he can complete the job in one day… I hired Mario less than a week later, to take on this huge task! And, just as he promised, it was completed the same day! I had neighbors that couldn’t believe he could successfully tackle a job so big, right in my driveway! I’m here to tell you, HE CAN, and HE DID! And after being parked for 4 months, waiting for the right professional and the right price, to present itself, I am more than delighted to say, my FORD EXPEDITION LIVES AGAIN, thanks to the mechanical expertise of Mario Matos, M&M Mobile Mechanic! Not only do my roommate and I have a list of maintenance items we want Mario to repair in the near future on both of our vehicles, but WE HIGHLY recommend him to friends and family… and will continue to use him for all of our future auto repair needs! Thank you Mario… You really are a GODSEND QUE DIOS TE BENDIGA!!!
To all interested in a POSITIVE automotive experience, read on! Mario has fixed my '97 LHS and my daughter's '97 Saturn on several occasions in the last months. My LHS had overheating problems for the last couple of months and was repaired by another repair shop numerous times for various ailments (radioator, thermostat, sensor, coolings fans). But that shop not even attempted the latest fiasco. The coolant line (metal) located "conveniently" between the engine block and firewall had sprung a leak, and the shop, after searching for the problem for over one hour told me that they would and could not touch that kind of work. I need to go to the Chrysler dealership to get that one fixed, I was told. So I called Mario, and he picked up the car in the morning and had it back together and running that same night. The dealership I had contacted told me the repair would take 3-4 days, depending on the parts being available (whatever they might have turned out to be) and the price quoted was truly mind boggling. I still have the piece of metal with pinhole in my glove box to remind myself of that adventure. Today Mario finished completely overhauling the Saturn's engine. It had decided to quit 5 days ago. One of the cylinders was completely flooded with oil. Mario took the engine apart, had the head machined and put it back together. My daughter picked the car up this afternoon and happily stated that it now actually runs much smoother than at any time since we got it from the auction 3.5 years ago. Mario, we appreciate your promptness, fair prices, great work and overall great character. We as women are not always treated with repect when it comes to automotive shops, it is assumed that we are not capable of understanding mechanical issues. All the more I can only highly recommend you to anyone interested in fair treatment, prompt and courteous service and great price. Thanks for your help, Susan
It all started when the car was making a scraping noise from the breaks and i went to midas and they told me that both the break system needed to be replaced; the calipers, the roter and pads were bad and that they would charge me about 600 dollars to replace. So i took upon my self to do it but it was still expensive just to get the parts and since i have never had the need to get tools to take the tire off had to buy all that stuff to so i went to the advance auto parts and was looking for someone to help me out to find out the right equipment to take the tire off. Just as i am entering the store this guy offers me his card i take it and put it in my pocket but i still determined to do it myself just to find that i wont be able to take off this tire unless i buy a part for the bolts that cost 80 a piece and i am short on money so the same guy who gave me his card offered me some assistance and he said he might have the part that the stores don't have he actually did and offered me an amazing price and not to mention my girl friend and child are in the store still and he gets all the best parts for me and inspects the car himself saying i dont need everything replaced just the pads and roter because the calipers just needed to be pushed back in this guy basically saved my life because without that car i wouldnt be able to go to work bring my girl friend to school and work and bring our child to daycare. He was very understanding and knew how i felt his service was awesome and not to mention very swift and he also showed me how to do it myself if i was ever in need to do it my self. he did everything in less than 40 min when midas was talking bout doing it in 2-3 hours i am very great full and i am recommending his services to all i know who have car troubles that need to be fixed.
Great auto repairs! I was referred by a family member who's been using Sir Wiz for many years and since then I've done a lot of referring too. Recently I referred my friend who has the same vehicle as Lee. Not only did he repair her vehicle for a lot less than the mechanic who has been servicing the car since she has had it but he gave her a lot of info on vehicle to help HER maintain it. Something the other mechanic never did. He also saved her a lot of money which was extremely important at the time. I use Sir Wiz for all my company vehicles, my personal vehicles, even my high end performance vehicles. Sir Wiz is an honest and reliable auto repair shop which is very rare to find these days!! Thank Sir Wiz. Keep up the great work and your wonderful customer service concern and care!
My 95 Jimmy overheated and I was able to pullover at an auto parts store. I got some freeone and put it in and it came out as fast as it went in. So I was going to call a tow truck when Mario came up, gave me card and offered to look to at it. He was able to diagnose the problem, towed my vehicle to my house and did the work in my garage. He was more the fair on price, it was a very labor intensive job as the parts only cost $25. but he had to drop the 4 wd transmission to replace the parts. I was so impressed I also had him do a couple other jobs on the truck as it needed the work. I would definitely recommend him as I already did to my brother ( he did a brake job and bearings on a 89 Chevy Silverado). Thanks Mario.
Mr. Mario came to my rescue when my 05 Chrysler Sebring broke down on the side of the road on MEMORIAL DAY MONDAY!! He towed my car to his shop, he was honest about why it broke down he was upfront about what it would take to get the engine running again. He kept me abreast of every detail, necessary parts and explained how they worked. My car was back on the road by Thursday, today he called me to check on the car and ask how it was running.. I have locked his number in my phone and I will continue to use his services for regular maintenance on my car. I found a Good and Honest Mechanic that actually provides exceptional customer service. Thank you Don Mario.
I recently had major repairs on my Dodge Intrepid. I took the car to some of the big name shops and their quotes were astronomical. The price tag to fix my radiator and water pump combined was more than my car was worth. I called M&M and was able to work out a fair price and and they saved me hundreds compared to what I thought I was gonna have to pay. They also are very upfront about what your price is. None of that hypothetical bull that the big name shops give you. They had be back on the road within just a few hours in both cases. I love M&M. If you like saving money, they're the way to go.
I called Mario to come by my house to install a starter for my 96 contour, turned out that i didn't even need a new starter it was my battery terminal. It cost me about half of what I thought it would orignally cost me. He gave his advice on what I do need on my car and not need which was great because when I go to other shops they tell me that I need this or that that cost much more than the car is worth so I really appreciate that. I would most definiteley reccomend his services to anyone who is looking for a great honest mechanic. And now I think I found my new car mechanic for my car needs.
I called Charlie and gave a general description of my issue. He arrived quickly and almost instantly diagnosed my problem. Although I didn't have a major mechanical or electrical issue he explained clearly what was going on and then gave the vehicle a look-over, checking for any general maintenance issues. The diagnosis was fairly priced. I would recommend his service to others and I feel comfortable using his service again. Would have been nice if they were able to process credit card payments, at the very least, for a receipt of the transaction but overall I am very happy with the service.
i needed to have my belts replaced and a new water pump put in, but couldn't find the time to leave my car with him because of work, so mario gave me a little help there. I left my car with him and what he did next was great. He drove me to work! Hes not just convienant but he's very affordable, I compared what he would have done with other local mechanics and found that he charges half of what other mechanics charge. He has a full recommendation from me!
There are more than 700,000 auto service technicians and mechanics in the U.S. Finding the right one to repair a dent in your car door or fix an engine that won't start can be overwhelming, especially when it's an emergency. Review a few important facts about auto repair professionals and what you can do to get the best possible mechanic working on your vehicle's issues for a fair price.
Looking For Reliability
Unlike home repair services that evaluate a property, meet with homeowners and have time to prepare before their physical work begins, auto repair businesses are often asked to make fixes on the spot. If you come into a garage with a tire issue, the expectation is the mechanic will know how to correct that problem quickly.
That is why reliability is so vital when searching for a trusted auto repair shop. It may take going to several different mechanics before you find one you are truly comfortable with. Pose questions to this professional to find out what approach they will take to repair your car or what alternatives are available. Shopping around also gives you the best opportunity to find the cheapest rate or the fastest service, as some garages may be backed up with other vehicles that need repair first.
A recommended way to locate a trustworthy auto repair professional is to seek out customer reviews. Online sites offer honest opinions from real customers who have used a business. Read through this feedback to learn how a business operates and what you can expect if you were to take your vehicle there. Look for reviews about how quick maintenance was completed and if prices were fair. By learning what other people have said about a garage, you can gain a better idea if it's the right place to go when you have a car problem in need of fixing.
It can be difficult to know which automotive problems are serious enough to require expert assistance. A ripped seat cushion or broken radio don't involve safety and will not warrant enough of a problem that going into a garage is required. However, setbacks with brakes, lights and other parts that are vital to the safety of your car's driver and passengers, as well as others on the road, necessitate quick fixes. Many modern automobiles will notify drivers of an issue, in the form of a signal on the dashboard or a noise within the vehicle.
In the event of an accident, even if your vehicle does not appear to have any damage on the outside, it is generally recommended that you see a trusted auto repair professional. Internal damage may have occurred, or an important part may have been knocked out of place. Fixing these issues before driving much further can prevent further vehicle breakdowns in the future. In the case of a serious accident, a body shop can assess the problems and determine the best course of action for repairs, as well as evaluate how much they will cost.
Beyond that, regular checkups are recommended. Tires must be rotated, fluids needs to be replaced and the engine must be evaluated. After driving 25,000 miles, most auto dealers suggest having the vehicle checked out to ensure everything is running smoothly. Taking the car into the auto repair professional you trust will protect you from further problems down the road.
Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop. At the same time, be aware of mechanic scams that can impact your experience.
Preventing Trips To The Professional
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage. By handling these types of tasks on your own, you'll gain a better understanding for how your car operates and save time and money.
Along with understanding how to fix manageable vehicle issues that may arise, taking preventative measures to avoid future problems is a valuable time saver. Many problem-solving best practices are related to the seasons. Your vehicle will be in different conditions in the winter than in the summer, meaning it requires a different type of preparation.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures the vehicle will be exposed to, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check your tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
There is a common worry among many people that auto repair professionals take advantage of the general public. Because so many people are unaware of how to fix the problems in their vehicle, they are nervous of being overcharged by mechanics or worried that the improper work is being done.
While the great majority of professionals in the industry are honest, hard-working people, a few bad apples can ruin everything. You should be extra careful when first visiting a mechanic to guarantee that the price you're charged and maintenance the vehicle receives are fair.
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you are in the shop and your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill.
The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done. That way, you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
By working closely with an auto repair professional and doing some of the tune-up work on your own, you will be less likely to fall for these scams. At the same time, you'll be able to drive out with a clean and healthy vehicle, thanks to the repairs made by a trained professional.
