The Board of County Commissioners operates under the government of Archuleta County in Colorado. It exercises judgment and is the policy making agency for the county. The board establishes the overall budget and ensures the efficiency of the county administration. The Board of County Commissioners works closely with other elected officials, including the assessor, clerk and recorder, sheriff, treasurer, coroner and surveyor. It also establishes the annual operating budgets of the county s elected officials. The county government operates through administration, airport, attorney, buildings and grounds, finance, development services, public works, human resources, information systems and nutrition departments. Its public works department is responsible for the maintenance of infrastructural systems, such as roads and bridges for the community.
