Monro Muffler Brake & Svc - Very POOR Service

Very Poor Service: Please do not go to this establishment. On 8/28/2011, my son brought his car in to be repaired. It was a disaster dealing with these people and the manager was as bad as the non-skilled mechanics.

They did not fix what they said they did, did not test drive the car to see what was wrong nor did they do a diagnostic test, they just guessed at what could be wrong. When they were done, they did not test drive the car to see if that fixed the problem and if the noise was gone. We had to ask them to do this. My son told them to check the wheel barrings, they said it was fine. But, when the car was test driven when we insisted they test drive it after saying they fixed the problem, the problem still existed. It was a wheel barring and they had to put the car back on the lift to fix it. They also said they fixed something that the Volkswagon does not even have on the car. It was horrible dealing with this guy and pathetic watching him lie and trying to make excuses. We were overcharged, the bill was $600 and the car still wasn't fixed. We had to take it back because when he fixed the wheel barring, it was out of alignment. They were rude when we brought the car back. When they realized we were overcharged, he gave us a form to sign and said it would be 30 + days before seeing a reimbursement... NO Apology!

When I said we would get another opinion on what they said about the car, what they said they fixed and what they said needing additional work on, the guy was angry and said just bring it back here... you don't need another opinion. Each time we questioned him, he got upset and asked us to not go to any other place that they would fix the problem. He was saying things about the car and parts that were already replaced and other parts that were not even part of the car...

I think the ""mechanic"" and the manager worked at a fast food chain restaurant, took a crash course on working on cars and some manager hired them. Now, we need to take the car someplace else to be looked at because it still isn't running right. Monro Muffler in Owego is a nightmare of a place to deal with. I feel so sorry for the elderly and everyone else they ripped off and were so rude to. It' very pathetic.

DO NOT recommend

I went here to get my inspection almost a year ago. Everyone seemed very nice and knowledgeable. They found something wrong with my car and told me they could replace it but it'd cost me nearly $400 and about 2 more hours since it was coming from Binghamton. After everything was all said and done, I had to come back a week or two later to have them fix a loose part that they never tightened. Then about a month down the road my car's transmission fluid was completely gone in my car... Turns out they never put any IN my car to begin with! So I had to travel back to them to fix that. Now after my car ran out of transmission fluid on the road, AGAIN! and it had to be towed home, I find out why. When Monroe messed around under my hood to ""fix"" my transmission fluid line, they placed the nriew part ght up against my radiator.

Thank you Monroe Muffler in Owego for telling me you ""fixed"" something, making me pay out the nose for it when really you didn't fix anything. My transmission fluid was the problem in the first place and it's been a problem ever since you ""fixed"" it. Don't ""replace"" something, ""fix"" it, and then make me pay for your mistakes. I'm STILL paying for your mistakes. This has been ridiculous. I won't ever take my car back to them.

As much as I want to go and yell at them about the damage they've done to both my car AND my wallet, I refuse to return to them. This was just beyond ridiculous. Do not recommend this establishment unless you want to kill your wallet.
