The prices are very cheap compared to competition, and the portions can be quite large. The selection of authentic Mexican food is not bad at all. I've found the quality to be inconsistent at times, as things have been thrown together and cold, while at other times the food has been hot and carefully made. I would recommend that anyone who comes to this restaurant try the burritos by all means. You probably won't get a cheaper burrito in JO that isn't bland. You'll pay at least 2 dollars less for probably a more filling burrito than Chipotles, and with more authentic tastes. I had the California burrito, and the pico de gallo was very fresh and tasty. The steak wasn't bad either, but not the best I've had. One of the best things about the burrito was the quality of soft tortilla they used. It was a fresh, soft, thick, almost gummy tortilla that was wonderful and actually had a rich, distinctive taste to it. If burritos were all I ate here, I would give them 4 stars, but unfortunately, I can't say all of their food is this good. I had some pretty bland rolled tacos there, but the red sauce almost rescued them. I also believe I had some sanchos a while back that were pretty gross, and the jalapenos they put on them were not ripe, and not sauteed in any way to soften them. That made them almost inedible. I have also had to wait quite a while for my food at times, especially if there were 1 or 2 other people before me in the drive-thru. Expect to wait about 2-5 minutes for your order alone.
If your on a diet though, be careful with this food. I imagine the soft tortillas for the burritos alone are over 30 grams of fat (and that's being kind). Combined with whatever you are probably putting in it, I imagine you could have a heart attack waiting to happen. Don't eat here everyday if you can manage it.

This is the real deal. In San Diego you'll find lots of these little taco shops and they're all great. Here, you have to hunt for them, but they're worth it. Try the carnitas burrito--mouth-watering marinated, shredded pork. Enchiladas, tacos, rolled tacos, and chips and guacamole are also authentic and excellent.
