A little advice...stay away from this place. I just drove 6 hour round trip to look at a Subaru Impreza that was totally misrepresented! Both Jen and Julia, whom I talked with over the phone, knew the distance I was driving. Only thing that they mentioned was light hail damage. No rust, no oil leaking from motor. Per Jen just before heading down there, she said, "if there was any leaking, it would have been taken care of in the shop". We get there and Jen is busy so Julia gets the keys and says she wished I would have called as I said i would before I left...I informed her I did and spoke with Jen because Julia was busy. Julia seemed gruff and put out. To keep it short, here is what I found....-obvious large hail damage (not tiny could hardly see as told)-scrapes on the wheel wells front and back with a dent in between on the right side including mirror.-rust spot on the rear quarter panel.-rear bumper missing paint right sideleft -left side mirror scraped up-motor leaking oil on right side from intake gasket, so much there was a "puddle" on the top of the motor, then running all the way down to bottom of motor-coolant reservoir way over full-battery not even fastened down, flopped it around with my hand-oil pan pretty much covered in oil-interior way more stained and dirty/grimy than you can see in the pics, which I did double check before writing this-no drivers side sun visor-kids toys and screwdriver in the spare tire area-and to top it off, tried to start it and it wouldn't even turn overSo, in my opinion, it was a very misrepresented vehicle and they had no concern for my time, taking off work and the drive. The pics that they take are very misleading, weather photo-shopped or just very good with lighting/shadows when taking them. Either way, very misleading. I will never do business there.
These guys are VERY dishonest!!! I brought my Toyota Camry in for repairs, it took them two weeks longer than they originally estimated and when picking up the car, one headlight was smashed along with dents on the bumper and hood. When confronted, they said the damage was there when brought in, which was totally untrue!!!. I didn't realize that I had to take pictures before dropping off the car to prove careless damage while in their possession is their responsibility, but this dealer obviously does not operate on decent principles. Please avoid!!!
Overcharges, lies, and very unprofessional leadership and management. Not willing to settle a dispute over a $300.00
I purchased a brand new vehicle in January of 2013 out of state from Vaugh Automotive. At the time, communication between the sales rep. Tim Kirkman and the finance department was acceptable for doing business out of state. However, after the purchase contract was signed there was little if no communication in response from the sales rep. or finance department. I never received finalized copies of the contract as I requested nor the window sticker (which was specifically asked to be mailed or placed in the vehicle) to date (now March 2013), The only reason this vehicle was not purchased locally in Texas was because of the value and options, however, I would not do business with this dealership again because of lack of communication following the purchase and not complying with my specific request after being told it would be done numerous times before the purchase and during the waiting time for delivery.
I have purchased several new and used cars in the past, and I'm happy to say that Vaughn Automotive has left me with a great impression of my car buying experience via the internet. Before I decided to purchase a used vehicle from out of state, I researched and reviewed many internet sites, including Vaughn Automotive. I live in the Kansas City area, Missouri, and was nervous about traveling out of town to buy a car that I had only seen on the internet. I am now back in Kansas City and can say that I had a wonderful day trip driving to Iowa to make my vehicle purchase. The salesman that assisted me proved to be frank and helpful from our initial phone agreement until the car keys were handed to me. He responded to requests to send the vehicle's records and patiently responded to my telephone calls so that I felt comfortable enough to make the visit to Iowa. I certainly will view this purchase as a memerable one. I would recommend this business to anyone looking to buy a vehicle. The owners' high business ethics and management style is apparent in the salesmen and business managers that he has surrounded himself with. Vaughn Automotive left a great impression with me and my family. We will certainly keep this car dealership in mind and share our experience with others looking to purchase a vehicle. Ottumwa is fortunate to have such a hometown dealership.
