We originally booked our rental for $287 online. Upon checking out our car, we were told we had to have extra insurance of $19 per day, even though we have rental insurance through our own car insurance and credit card and we had printed out proof of coverage, totalling at $105. The agent checking us out was very aggressive in pushing us to have toll coverage and prepay for gas, we ended up getting it because she scared us into it. We ended up going through five .75 cent tolls, which we prepaid $53. Our "prepaid" gas was $27 when renting and ended up being $31 when returning the car. Along with another 40 something in additional fees that we not disclosed when reserving the car, our $287 reserved rental ended up costing us $534. I will be fighting the $4 of prepaid gas on principal. I will never use this "discount" car rental again and do not recommend this company to anyone. If I could give 0 stars I could.
After arriving just slightly late for our rental, we were told our reservation was canceled. We received no notification and the we re-read the fine print on our online booking, it says nothing about reservations being canceled after a certain amount of time. They would only offer us a sports car at over double the reservation cost. We asked for any other options or solutions, they said “you can take our shuttle back to the airport.”
Poor customer service, poor selection, poor experience. We lost several hours overall and we will encourage all we know to avoid Fox Rentals from now on.
Their sign is just a gimmick.
If I could give them a 0 star rating I would. We didn't realize that this was an off airport property rental company - but that isn't the problem. We got on the shuttle with our 4 children and all of our luggage and pulled into a dark parking lot where the outside lights didn't work. There were at least 30 other people inside. After waiting in line for an hour, it was finally our turn. After talking to them for 15 minutes they told us they wouldn't accept the rental insurance that I had already paid for, nor would they accept our personal car insurance - they wanted us to pay for MORE insurance through them. No thanks. We packed our stuff back on the shuttle and went elsewhere.
While we were waiting, two other people left for the same reasons and also a handful of people left because they didn't even have the cars they rented at the lot. Worst rental experience of my life and will NEVER use Fox Rent a Car again.
Had a reservation at 10:30 pm Friday night. After getting to the facility the line was out the door. So after an hour and a half wait inside the facility which for lack of better description "needs work" we finally reached the counter. We prepaid for the added insurance which of course wasn't enough so they told us we had to pay an extra 80$. Then trying to make every customer feel that they needed the toll pass I refused and tried to make me feel a fool for not taking it. Finally feeling like our ordeal was over. Then we waited outside for almost an hour while waiting for the car we reserved. Finally after problems with not the first, second and third vehicle we finally had got into a vehicle that was actually usable! Mind you this was the 4th car. So now I call customer service today and finally after 45min of waiting, transfers and getting a "manager" (Jonathan I believe) I tell him about my really pleasant experience on Friday night he still tells me I'm getting charged extra money if I bring the car back early. My flight is at 7:30am and want to bring the car back the night prior and pay for a hotel at the airport at my expense so if/when there is a problem I'm not there again for over 2 hours and potentially miss my flight! The manager gives me an attitude tells me that I'm still being charged and hung up on. I have never been so disgusted with the whole experience! Even if I could give them zero stars I'd still give them 1 star! And the only reason is "Joshua" who worked in the back was very helpful, sympathetic and made sure he helped us and every other pissed off customer! After everything I've dealt with he was the only thing decent about this entire place! Your business and employees should ALL be ashamed (except Joshua)
Do yourself a favor spend the extra 10$ a day at the airport you will save 10fold!
I would give them zero stars if it allowed me to. Do NOT rent a car from these people!!!!!!!!! They will charge you crazy fees and not tell you about them. We have rented from plenty of car rental places and have never had such a horrible experience. There are no direct numbers to call and speak with a person without feeling like you are an internet stalker. This company is a money scam
My daughter in law was visiting, made reservations, she asked the customer service rep if I would be able to bring my grandchildren car seats a head of time and was told yes, when speaking to a MANAGER when I got there, he was not willing to help at all, customer service at location is horrible, my daughter in law has been on hold with customer service for 20min, I was told that the people that work in this location don't even have a number to customer service or the owner of the business, I can't stress the level of frustration with this company.

Do not use no matter how cheap you think they are. They are cheap for a reason. I would give them a "0" star if I could.
AC did not work properly on the vehicle number one, but more importantly were the TOLLS:
When checking in I was asked if I needed the highway toll pass at $13.99 a day. I asked if I could pay the tolls in-person and the receptionist said yes, so I declined respectfully. What she did not inform me about was that there are no toll collectors and you need exact change (no bills or credit card) or you need the sun pass - your only options. Oh and there are no turn-around points - once you are on the toll road you cannot go back.
I had no other choice but to run one toll. I immediately called the Central Florida Expressway Authority to pay my toll where they informed me that I cannot since it was paid for by Fox Rental Car. I called Fox Rental to see if I could pay.......... lmfao - rude and arrogant and not willing to help or care. Needless to say I am here writing this review and Fox Rental had no problem bilking me for another $69.95 in fees. That equates to $13.99 a day for a single toll that was $1.00 that I tried to pay, lol. My total rental for 5 days was $127....... with a $69.95 penalty fee. TOURIST TRAP!
Don't rent for this company, my husband rented a car there the car broke after 5 minutes he was dringing, the car stoped and didn't start and they charged my husband anyways, The manager said he would have to pay even when that was prove that the car was with NO OLEO and that's the reason why the car stoped. anyways, awful experience, don't use this crap company they are desonest.

There is no law that requires you buy the optional insurance!!! They lie!!! They pressure you..AND THEN THEY CHARGED ME FOR A CAR I NEVER USED!!! I walked out the door and the high pressure guy charged my card anyway!!! DAN SNOW!!! CRIMINAL...JEFF HOUSE... Degenerate...don't deal with these losers...please people...SAVE YOURSELVES!!!
HORRIBLE experience. I go to FLA every November, and usually rent through Enterprise or National. Fox was offering a very good rate, so for the first time ever, I rented the vehicle from them. Mistake. HUGE MISTAKE. Will never do it again.
The morning we were leaving to go home (11/16/13), we got a flat tire. It would take them 2 hours to come help us. The lugnut was so tight, we couldn't get it off ourselves. We called our AAA and they too couldn't get it off. So, WE had to TOW it to a local place to change and repair the tire. NO help from FOX. Don't count on them.
One week later, got a letter from a collection agency on their behalf they wanted $160 to repair and replace the tire. WHAT? WE had to tow the car ourselves to have the lugnut removed, replaced the tire, and now they want us to pay $160? They are not reputable. STAY AWAY! If I had seen any of these postings before rental, I would not have rented from them.
We made our flight home by TWO MINUTES running on the plane. No thanks to Fox Rental.
My experience with Fox rent a car was pretty bad. Fox lures its customers in with a really low rate for a rental car in Orlando. That's the only good thing I can say about Fox. The initial rate was low. $12 for a compact car for 4 days for total cost of about $65.
BUT: Buyer Beware... read EVERYTHING no matter what you verbally tell them.
Trip reason: "emergency" trip to Florida to check on 90+ year old mother.
Bad stuff about Fox:
1. Fox is an off airport location. Have to wait for bus coming and going. Needed to find by GPS in order to return auto. Arrival was at 11 pm Thursday in dark.
2. The employees attempt to up-sell everything. Inside, denied any upgrade 4 times. Finally, after 9 hours of travel, handed paperwork, "initial here". Bad idea. They had added charges I said I did not need.
3. Outside, again the upgrade. Started with, "oh, you will not be comfortable in that car." Was told car I was given was a "free upgrade", who knows.
Had to still drive 1.5 hours to destination, so glad to finally get out of there and on the road.
With all the insurance, taxes, fees and scams, you will end up with a bill DOUBLE of your expectation, so definitely equals other places and you won't have to deal with our frustrations and rude employees.
4. Return was problem, first finding the place again and then finally getting bill. Why so expensive after internet booking numbers? Was to be about $70. Sure, the $100 extra deposit is supposed to be returned. Discovered when returning that the auto collision and emergency repair that I told them I'm already covered with my current insurance was ADDED, more than doubling the cost.
Counter person clearly did not care. So asked for manager and Manager Dan Snow did not even pretend to work with me in any way to adjust the unnecessary charges.
All the other car rental companies in Orlando will need to be out of cars before I'll rent from Fox again. It's a cheap rental, and you get what you pay for, and Buyer Beware... read EVERYTHING no matter what you verbally tell them.
Stay away from this Fox location. We had a very friendly and helpful shuttle driver, but things went downhill after that. I reserved the car ahead of time, and it still took them an hour to get me into a car. My reservation was for a compact car, and I ended up with an economy size costing me more than I could have reserved the economy for. The agents are very pushy to upgrade you to a bigger vehicle. They are also extremely persistent to get you to buy extra insurance. The pre-paid gas is a total rip-off. They said it would be at $3.28 per gallon, but the $44 charge would have equaled $4.88 per gallon. When I tried looking over the rental contract and when I was checking the car for damage, they became quite rude and irritated. They acted like I was wasting their time. They lure you in with cheap rental prices, but you will end up wishing you had gone somewhere else.
Do not use this car rental agency, it is absolutely terrible. Don't be drawn in by the low prices, it is not worth it. The employees are rude and are not at all interested in offering you assistance, instead they are more likely to harass you and waste your time. And on top of that, there is no guarantee that they will actually keep the car that you reserved. Instead of getting stuck driving a 12 passenger van after waiting in line for an hour and dealing with rude employees, just go somewhere else.
