General Info
First of its kind in Orlando, India's innovative cuisine, the very name 'Dakshin' evokes opulence in taste and decor. Dakshin introduces you to a cuisine from the southern part of India stretching from the rugged coastlines of Tamil Nadu and Kerala to the sun-drenched beaches of Goa and Mumbai on India's western coast. As spectacular and surprising as the country sides are, so are the cuisines of its many communities, which were confined by and large to family kitchens, until Dakshin, the restaurant, captured and showcased them. Created from a wealth of local spices, red chillies, coconut, pepper and spices of the coast, the cuisines of the Tamilians of Tamil Nadu, the Malayalees of Kerala, the Bunts of Mangalore, the Portuguese of Goa and the East Indians of Mumbai, are a delight to the taste buds.

Food is Consistently Great

Honestly, we have been dining in this restaurant for years and we have found the food to be anything but Great! The service is standard for a small family restaurant and only adds to the charm of this place. Meals served with a spicy red soup that is outstanding and portions are more then generous.

The restaurant is in the Tourist part of town, however the prices are reflective of most sit down style restaurants in South West Orlando.

My personal favorite, Chicken Tiki Masala and I suggest medium spicy, unless you are Indian and accustomed to that kind of spicy food.

TOURIST TRAP!!!

AVOID THIS PLACE!! I am not a tourist but this restaurant is next to Disney so obviously it is aimed at stealing from tourists who don't know the average meal charge for the area. The place is ugly and dark, looks dirty, the people are very rude, took forever to come take my order, the meals are VERY EXPENSIVE and then they will charge you EXTRA $5 for rice! AS IF! I WALKED OUT as they turned their backs on me when I complained about paying extra for rice when the average vegetarian meal costs above $15 (area average $10) and will never go back again!!!

Bad food, bad service

Went there with couple of families late in the evening. It took them about 15 minutes to get back to us on sitting, there were barely anyone in the restaurant. Food was really bad, so bad that one person had to go puke in the bathroom. They saw all this, but didn't show any concerns. We threw rest of the food and on top of this, they had charged 15% tip. Overall, bad experience, this place should be closed.

WILL END YOUR ORLANDO VACATION RIGHT THEN AS YOU WILL GET A STOMACH FLU

We took our two daughters to this restaurant on our first night of our 5 day vacation trip to the Orlando area, and DID NOT KNOW that going into this restaurant (Dakshin at 12541 S.R. 535, Orlando, FL 32836, Ph # 407-827-9080, in the Lake Buena Vista area) would END OUR VACATION RIGHT THEN. After an extra ordinary wait with very few customers being waited upon, we were served first an appetizer which looked like it was eaten at the bottom and eventually served a vegetarian dish and a meat dish in very small portions. We ate and our kids ate. We paid the bill plus the forced upon 15% tip plus tax on it tip and left for our hotel. We came back to the hotel and went to sleep. My older daughter got up first in the middle of the night throwing up badly and after a few hours my younger daughter and wife woke up throwing even worse. I had a terrible stomach upset soon after. We had lots of medication and sat through our vacation in our hotel suite for the next 4 days trying to recover our selves. That was it and on the 5th day we flew back home as scheduled.
