We do not have authentic paella in Hawai'i so this was a must try! We found this hidden gem through the groupon site and drove 20 minutes for early dinner. and we're glad we did! We walk up to this quaint little restaurant and were greeted and seated immediately. Our waitress (Nicole) had great customer service and was friendly with us. She was more than obliged to share the story of the family-owned restaurant. Exactly the kinds of places we like to eat- where people treat you like family and friends :-) We ordered the mixta paella, sangria pitcher, ham croquet, calamari, flan, and tres leche cake. The ham croquet and calamari were excellent (how do you screw up calamari?)! Both were crunchy and hot and the sauce for both complemented the dishes quite well. The mixta paella was OH EM GEEEEEE good! My wife has been to Spain and verified it's authenticity. Lol. The paella was moist, flavorful, hearty and more than we expected! (It was so good I purchased another grouping on the spot to order another to take home!! The sangria was made the way we like it- homemade, cherries, not so strong wine. Deliciously compliments the paella. Then....dessert. The tres leche cake was moist and firm but the flan (oh, the flan!) the best flan I have EVER had!! Firm and rich with none of that caramel water soup stuff! All in all, we spent waaaay more then we would have but it was worth every cent!!! The flavors alone will twist your arm to eat more than you thought you could!!! Mahalo e Paella House :-)
I love Chinese food and you can say that I am a big fan of any dish made with a side of fried rice. My love for a well made Chinese dish with a side of fried rice comes from my own personal experience coming from a very big Filipino family when it comes to Asian food or just oriental food in general. Everything is a hit on. I must say, my taste bud feels great after eating there. Anyways, onto the food! We ordered a few entrees of food so that we could all share and I have to say everything tasted so yummy! They have the best fried rice I've ever eaten and the tenderness in the general tso's chicken that they prepared was perfect, the crispness was spot on to perfection as well. I highly recommend this restaurant if you live around this area and/or if you're a big Chinese food fanatic like myself because they really do have the best Chinese food I've ever had! A well earned 5 stars out of 5.
This is my preferred Chinese restaurant for take out in SODO. The first reason is that the proportions are perfect for any adult. The American obesity rates are staggering versus other countries and adult portions are properly presented in an elegant way. Each meal is cooked to order and not out on a long buffet line drying out or having been touched by 50 to 100 people ahead of you. The oil used for fried rice is light and not greasy. I prefer spicy Chinese food like Gen. Tso's Chicken and like the homemade breading versus a frozen batch like the chain restaurants or the buffets. The atmosphere is urban chic and pleasant in taupes and beautiful wood. Staff is friendly. The only down side is that the Chinese food is somewhat American-ized. If you prefer a spicier meal more indicative of true Asian, simply tell them in advance. Nice to eat alone or on a date.
I drive all the way from south Brevard county to eat at this place. If you walk into a Chinese restaraunt over here, it most likely will be dirty, you may see a bug on the wall, and you will get treated poorly by the staff. Just because their chinese, and your not. However, in this place the people are VERY nice. Hard workers, and they go the extra mile for you. I was really impressed the first time I ate there. The place is super clean. Great food selection. They have an all you can eat buffet full of delicious Chinese food. Just make sure you get there at a good time. It ends at 2:30 if you want the 6.99 buffet.
I went to Empire Szechuan recently and got a 3 meat, one side to go meal. The sweet n sour chicken was delicious! All white meat and tasty sauce (and they give you extra if you ask). The bbq pork however had several fatty pieces that I wasn't too pleased with and the rice had been sitting for a while. All n All though, better than mall chinese food, not as good as other chinese restaurants. * Update! It's been a while since I first posted this and since they have only gotten better. I get their lo mein at least once a week, yum! **Update! Delivery is SLOW
They specialize in Peking Duck whereas other places usually serve an awful bastardized version. And if other restaurants do serve the authentic Peking duck (which takes a lot of advance prep), then you would have to order a day ahead, but Lam's serves enough of it to have it ready to order. I also got the Chinese broccoli in garlic sauce which was also great. I can't wait to get this again and I'd like to try their lobster in ginger sauce. I'm so happy to find one of the last remaining authentic Chinese restaurants
My fiance and I went there almost every weekend when we lived in Winter Springs. The only reason we don't go anymore is because we moved to New York. This place is wonderful. Even when it's busy the service is great, and the dim sum is awesome! I LOVE the steamed pork buns! Plus you don't break the bank getting a big breakfast. We really loved it and after a while the staff starts to remeber you, which is nice because you don't see that happen too much anymore. They are all really nice and again, great Dim Sum!
My wife and i went here over the weekend wanting to try something different, we got what we wanted, 1st the food is AMAZING very very good. The atmosphere is a little different but lots of fun, we sat at the bar as they were fully booked inside was a little loud but we knew this coming in. They played music and people were dancing on the table it was awesome. You can get a quiet atmosphere outside which when we bring our parents in a few weeks we will sit their. This place is a MUST GO
Good food. They could do a better job cleaning the tables. They seem to have rings on the surface from months ago. What turned me off on this restaurant was the fact that they added an 18% tip to the check on their own for a party of 4. The first time I ate there, I didnt notice the tip already added and their credit card voucher included another line for more tip. I find this practice insidious, dishonest and violates the basic premise of a gratuity. I will not dine there anymore.
why would someone seriously sit around all day calling a bunch of chinese restaurants instead of just going to one and pick up the food yourself? then wait an hour for the food to be delivered? if its not in the zone then deal with it. besides theres a chinese restaurant right next to wedgefield that delivers! i love wok & roll. they have the best food, and the best service. the employees are always nice and make wonderful food! im never disappointed when i eat there!
