Not What it Once Was.Opening to a new location, we thought it would be the same good service we once had when they were at the old location, not even close: customer service has severely suffered. Employees are there to collect a check, which is evident by them collectively complaining about customers and how long they have to be there.Walking in the host was on the phone, threw his index finger up and said "wait one" and walked off. Opposite of what we experienced in the past, had I been alone; would have left. The grills and tables are same size but they try to pack in more people with additional place settings. If you ask for a bottled beer, you now have to ask for a glass with it and what you get is a dishwasher warm glass. We, meaning everyone at the table had to ask for refills on water and instead of when they use to just bring you a fresh new glass, they take your old one and refill it, no fresh lemon. We were brought soup without ordering, so double salad and no soup/ vice versa doesn't exist anymore. Our server on the grill was new, and it showed. The quality of food is still there, before its cooked. As for our fried rice, tasted more like warmed rice with soy sauce; he didn't give it time to crust or even cook. I ordered the fillet medium-rare which with his uneven ,turned out medium to medium well; ruined a good piece of meat that I now had to pay for. Don't expect the same quantity you received of food from the old location, two to go boxes are now easily one. The bill process was an event in itself. The waiter who wasn't at the old location, brought the bill, and literally grabbed up it up before I have a chance to view what I was paying for. After he brought me the check to sign, I asked for my bill to see what I was paying for he was perplexed with an attitude to say the least. After mentioning, "I would like to see what all I'm charged for", he informed me the bill was closed out and they can't print that off. About to ask for a manager, I saw one get involved who took care of the problem; this lasted over 10 minutes. The beer was cold and the sushi remains superb - No longer a family spot for us; I'll go there for sushi at the bar.
I tried to use my http://Restaurant.com discount coupon on my iPhone. It was $15 off a min meal of $22.50. Then then added a 18% tip on my check! I asked what this was all about since my party was only 3 people with different checks, he claimed it was something they have to charge because I was using a http://Restaurant.com coupon. This is so wrong with them not honoring my discount with http://Restaurant.com I will no longer go back!!! When I told the staff we will not be back due this they acted as they didn't care! SIMMON was our waiter and he is terrible too!
I live close to Akaya and normally the service & food both are good
