I was being seen there for a high risk pregnancy and had a miscarriage and was told to come back for a follow up. When I called to make an appt I was informed that because I had pregnancy Medicaid and wasn't pregnant anymore that they were going to charge me $250 for the visit. It is the "practice policy" to abandon their patient if you are poor and have the horrible experience of losing a child! I cannot believe how I'm being treated by the doctors who have dealt with my last two pregnancies. This is hard enough without even being able to see the doctor that knows my history! Ask questions before u decide who is going to care for u and your baby, like, if tragedy happens, will you be there for me? The answer will be NO!

I am extremely disappointed with the care I received in this office. Don’t get me wrong about Dr. Hyler, he has the best bedside manner of any doctor I have ever met. He actually takes the time to talk to you and I mean really talk to you about your concerns, but his counterpart, Dr. Thirumlai is so rude that Dr. Hyler’s bedside manner cannot begin to make up for it. I would not have Dr. Thirumlai deliver my baby if she was the last doctor on earth! My first appointment was on January 20, 2011. At that time, I was given a bill for the $2,200 that my insurance will not cover. I was told that it was due by my 32nd week of pregnancy. I was also given a “suggested” payment plan. The plan did not have any dates on it. When I asked about the payments listed, I was told those were just suggested and as long as I paid in full by my 32nd week, I would be fine. (By the way, I had a one and a half hour wait on January 20th.)

My 2nd appointment was February 17, 2011. I was forced to wait (with my impatient 8 year old daughter) for two hours before I was approached by the billing lady and told that the doctor refused to see me unless I made a payment that day. I told her that I would be able to make a payment the following week and reminded her that I was told I had until my 32nd week to pay in full. (I am only 12 weeks.) She said that was fine, she just needed to go talk to the doctor to make sure that would be ok. She was back in about five minutes to tell me that the doctor would not see me unless a payment was made that day. That is when I found out Dr. Hyler was not in, only Dr. Thirumlai and she was the one making these demands. If this is how this doctor’s office handles their billing, something is VERY wrong about this place! At no point did I say I was unable to pay nor was I even asked if I would have a problem paying in full by my 32nd week. I was forced to wait two hours before I was even asked for a payment then was told I would be refused service because of non payment. I was allowed to speak with the doctor before I left and when I told her I would not return and would tell everyone I knew and even people that I didn’t how horrible the service was, her only reply was, “OK”.
