Do you want authentic Mexican food? Do not come here! The food seems to comes straight out of the microwave. The food is tasteless and the service was horrible. I ordered chorizo and eggs, you think how can you not get this right??? Well, they didn't.......It was the worst chorizo and eggs I ever had, very soggy and tasteless. My wife ordered a pork burrito. Some of the pork meat inside was cold.......unbelievable! This restaurant is lying to the people who does not know what authentic Mexican food should taste like. Don't be fooled!

The food is amazing, even more amazed when the bill arrives. The decor is a little overboard for my taste, dodging the muriad of plants and trees is a bit much but keeps the noise level down. Its a little tight in the seating, but worth it in the long run. Would definately recommend this restaurant. The Chicken (Pollo de Mole Pablano) is our favorite.

Very average Mexican food.. but my goodness, the prices are low for a sit-down, dine-in, Cadillac serving Mexican restaurant. The place it too ""tight"" for my liking... seems like everywhere you go, you have to squeeze to get through... but that's neither here nor there... at the end of the day, for the PRICE... it's a decent little value for a night out. the parking lot is much like the interior... very tight and compact...

I love taking family here from Las Vegas. Las Vegas people always brag about their 99cent breakfasts and $5.00 prime rib dinners. Well - Orange County beats all with this incredible delicious generous Mexican cooking! The prices are great, service is good and there is a home style that does not require dressy dresses and high heels (I'll wear them any ways). Enjoy and treat a friend to a yummy dinner and margarita!!!

What a wonderful find! The fun decor reminds me of family visits to Mexico!
The food is realistic portions, authentic tasting and reasonably priced - you can take the wife for a night out or take the entire family for a nice dinner without breaking the bank!
You lke burritos & tacos - but your wife wants Lasagna?
Order yor drinks and relax - they have it all!!

We love Chili Pepper's. The atmosphere is very authentic - the food is great! I love the complimentary little appetizer & the dessert . My husband & I love to come here for dinner after our Sunday hockey games (Anaheim Ducks!)
We have had our baby granddaughter with us a few times and find the staff delightful!!

From the moment I walked in I noticed the vibe, I had my toddler's almost gone sippycup in my hand and the girl at the front practically jumped down my throat telling me I was not allowed to bring in an outside drink, and took it from me and held it at the register. They don't serve chocolate milk for kids?
Second we were seated and I asked for a water with lemon, and didn't get one. 3rd finally someone came over and took our order, even one of the waiters admitted that they were ""sleeping"" as in not aware to come and take care of us. I noticed a lot of waiters standing around too! We won't be back. It wasn't just me, other people at the table felt the same. Bummer, we were hoping for a new good Mexican eatery.
I LOVE this restaurant! Workers are amiable people who serve you with the friendliest welcome. Appetizers are incredible and the meals are affordable and delicious! At the beginning of your "stay" they give freshly sliced fruit and nacho chips with salsa. You meals are served and your food is brought in a fair amount of minutes. After eating, churro like burritos are filled with apple are given to you and they are sooo good. Would really recommend. This is a family friendly restaurant- children are given balloons. If it is your birthday, you can request that they sing for you and they bring you a small cup filled with icecream! :)

this is my fave place to eat out. for $40 a family of four can eat, get drinks and have appeitzers. the look and decor is fun and silly, and the service is excellent.
i have been coming here since 98, and i enjoy bringing my 5 and 2 yr old to eat. it's one of the few places that is NOT stressful to eat out with them.
the salsa is amazing and fresh, and i love thier chile verde burritos.

Being someone who has been a frequent diner in most of the OC's mexican hot spots, this place was like a breath of fresh air. I was very amused by the decor on both the exterior and interior.
The very common cliche of chips and salsa had a twist that I found refreshing unlike other reviewers.
The ""arroz con pollo"" was an explosion of flavors like I had never experienced making my tastebuds crave more per bite. The tropical interior, music and REAL pineapple shell when served my pina colada made me feel like I was on a cruise in Baja.
With todays economy and the restrained budget we are all experiencing, the prices and flavors are a high recommendation from me :)

I am very perplexed with the reviews I've been reading about this restaurant. Quite frankly, this restaurant is not worthy of a second visit from me. From the get go, I was under the impression that the upcoming dining experience would not be satisfying. Judging by the plastic placards advertising spaghetti and meatballs and other ethnic dishes not typically associated with the genre of ""Mexican food"", I knew this restaurant was casting a fishing net to attract all types of taste buds. Poor experience began with being served the standard chips and salsa. Nothing wrong with that. It was expected and I looked forward to it.. What was not expected was the bland, watered salsa. The salsa had cubed ""nopales"" (cactus) and carrots. No salsa, no matter how authentic it claims to be, should have theses items in them. They didn't even bother putting some salt on the guacamole appetizer. That is the easiest thing to improve the taste of guacomle and they haven't figured that out. The margaritas we ordered were just a follow through of the salsa - bland. The restaurant was consistent. The steak and chicken tacos I ordered were tasteless, tough and terrible. I really don't know what some of the reviewers found appealing in the quality of the food for this restaurant. I am always looking for a new/old establishment to find some good tasting food. This place did not fit the bill; even considering how ""reasonable"" their prices are. It's only reasonably priced if the food is decent.

The Chili Pepper in Orange combines great food with exceptional service and at very reasonable prices. My family has been dining here for many years and the staff always makes us feel at home. They offer a wide variety of menu items and I recommend sampling one of the daily specials which are always sure to please. The Chili Pepper is an extremely family friendly restaurant and is a great place to go for any occasion!

I've been dining here for many years, willing traveling the 20 miles from home to restaurant, especially on weekends when lunch comes with a huge plate of various fresh fruit. and the end of the meal is topped off by apple rolled in a small tortilla, lightly covered in sugar. Now that i moved 2500 miles away, it's the first place we head for when we arrive in Orange County, eating there 3-4 times in (7) days.

Service is fab, the food is authentic and they keep it fresh by changing the menu based on time and day. Prices are unbelievably reasonable. I go all the time and Ive gone for lunch with coworkers, dinner with a date, brunch with friends or family. Great for birthdays! Atmosphere is nice for a romantic interlude or just fun with friends. Staff is friendly and helpful. Brunch on the weekends is yummy. Go once youll get hooked!
