Overall

Westgate Assisted Living was my father's home for three and one half years. My family would recommend Westgate as it was recommended to us by a coworker . It was convenient to our family's homes and work locations at 3030 south 80th Street, just off Center.



Dad moved there because, at 88 and beginning to be frail, he needed an accessible residence and his own home for fifty years with steep basement stairs was not workable and he was not eating well on his own. We found the quite spacious studio apartment to be perfect for him, with a large picture window, private bathroom, a small galley kitchen, plenty of storage and all the privacy he wanted.



He was reluctant at first, but after several months, the caring and attentive staff at Westgate drew him into the social community there. Three times weekly bingo games and the Friday afternoon musical events were highlights. He also looked forward to the weekly escorted shopping trips to the local grocery, pharmacy and banking.



He participated in almost all of the recreational and social activities including the resident advisory council. The advisory council creates an effective and respectful means of real communication for residents with each area of the Westgate management. I was always very impressed with the sincere effort that the staff made to address resident requests. Their diligent advocacy also assured fairly regular religious observance and pastoral visits.



After some time, he required additional assistance with medication management and Westgate provided that service well. The nursing staff was caring and insightful, something we especially appreciated.



We knew very soon after he moved to Westgate that this was a great place for him. We remain very grateful for his years at Westgate.
