My first experience with a Hospice agency and will be my last. I've never experienced anything so disrespectful, disheartening, lack of compassion, and ill prepared in my professional and personal life. Thank God I was capable and trained to handle everything because I wonder what care my Dad would have received had I not been there. My Dad was treated poorly and with disrespect and my family were shocked but the worse came the moments after, my Uncle had to be the one to confirm his own brothers death and we received no phone calls the hours later except to request a time when the could come and pick up their equipment. I pray to God that my experience was the exception however given the fact they had no medical treatment supplies to care for my Dad condition and I basically had to "rob from Peter to pay Paul" in order to make what supplies they gave us work, I do not believe they are prepared for all situations. It's been two years, almost three, since Dads passing and I still relive those actual words that a hospice worker spoke to and in front of my Dad. The cut is still very raw and very deep. I can only hope the agency and the aide whom I asked to leave immediately, have reevaluated their training standards and personal convictions because if they haven't? I feel bad for those who require hospice care and this agency is the only one.
