We ate at Opus on Christmas Eve our waiter Keith was very knowledgeable about all the menu items an super professional. All 3 of us ordered steak. When Keith brought out our steaks an sides we all agreed the steaks were the best we've had anywhere. Thats saying something because we've eaten at all the fine steakhouses in OKC, Tulsa, Dallas, Huston, DC. Just about everywhere we travel for work. Opus is our favorite steakhouse in OKC. We were Mahgony big fans but I think Opus is just a bit better than Mahgony an Red.

Overpriced, overcooked and rude, snobby servers. Others had told us this but we still wanted to try it. They were correct! Save your money and try other restaurants in OKC which have much better food and are less expensive.

The staff was friendly, knowledgable, attentive but not overboard--just right.

The food was excellent. I always get a medium well steak and most places have a hard time with it being done and still tender. This was.

It was a quite relaxing enjoyable start to a nice evening.

Worst Fine Dining experience

The first thing we noticed walking in was the beautiful entry way. The decor did look like something you would look for in a fine dining establishment. After you step through the second door, the beautiful decor continues, as look as you don't look up. The restaurant looked fabulous, until you notice the warehouse type ceilings.
As soon as I opened the menu the pages started falling out. There was also an extra page in the menu that had no place, it was just a floating half page that seemed to be an afterthought. I would have thought it was a mistake had I not noticed that my husband's had the same issue. It seems like they have kept adding to the menu, without bothering to update the actual book itself. Disappointing.
After that we met our server. He was an older gentleman, but he smelled like a teenage boy who hadn't showered in a few days and was trying to cover up that fact by swimming in cologne. Seriously, when he came to the table I held my breath and waited a moment or two after he left before I allowed myself to breath in again. Any fine dining-or any restaurant period, should make sure that their servers do not wear over powering colognes, perfumes or lotions. You want to make sure that the diners are able to use all of their senses on the food - not the servers.
I was also a little perturbed that he thought it was acceptable to interrupt us several times in the middle of our conversation and kept trying to rush us to order dinner. Not what I was expecting from a ""fine dining"" experience. Again, it's one thing to do a quality check and to serve food, but trying to start up a conversation with the guests is not what we expected. We came to have an evening out with each other, not with the server.
I went to the bathroom before we ordered: Even though the bathroom looked nice, with marble sinks and beautiful woods and colors - they are definitely hiding some things and a little too open with others. There were plug in air-fresheners and 9 bowls of those scented crystals. It still smelled like a bathroom, so I'm trying to figure out how bad the smell was before. They also had used the distorted glass doors for each of the bathroom stalls, but they were not distorted, tinted or cloudy enough to make that moment private enough.
The server swore to my husband that the Calamari was the best in OKC. We disagree. The calamari was greasy and like chewing on a rubber band. It was ridiculous and impossible to chew. It was supposed to be perfectly seasoned, but it was overly seasoned with pepper. It was also supposed to be served with Remoulade, we were served tartar sauce.
Next was the Lobster Bisque, one of our favorites. When the server put the plate down in front of me all I could say was 'very sloppy.' This is the type of restaurant that I expected clean edges and perfection really. I actually laughed when I saw the tacky paper doily under my bowl. When I tasted the bisque it only took me one bite to know that it was dreadful! I was so disappointed that there was virtually no lobster meat in it. There was tiny slivers of ground lobster that I managed to scrape off of the bottom of the bowl. I didn't actually finish it, because a few spoonfuls in I felt something like the shape and texture of a fingernail clipping in my mouth-it wasn't a fingernail clipping - it was a piece of the shell that had gotten ground in as well. After pulling out about four of those, I was done.
We also had rolls. They were flavorless. There was also cute little rosettes of butter, but it had no flavor as well. Because I the bread and butter had no flavor they were actually a little disgusting. It was like eating stale, dry air.
This was the point that we decided we had wasted enough money and did not want to eat anything else from that kitchen.
The restaurant overall was just a disappointment. The only thing amazing is the website, which definitely makes it seem much better than it really is. This was not fine dining.
