Nancy's is a cozy bar/restaurant whose patrons run the gamut with respect to age and musical tastes. Karaoke begins around 8pm, and is fun and entertaining, whether you are a spectator or participant. The DJ has over 100,000 songs in his library and he does a good job of making sure there's a decent mix offered throughout the evening. Some of the regulars have pretty good voices. Occasionally someone will get on stage after they've enjoyed a bit too much liquid bravado, but they're just as fun to cheer on as the others. We arrived early on a Sunday night with a friend visiting from Australia. At first we weren't quite sure what to think of the place but as the evening went on, we found ourselves among a lively and friendly crowd. About the food -- the apricot chicken was a little overcooked and lacked flavor but the pork tenderloin was wonderful.Important notes: 1-the a/c is extremely efficient, so bring a wrap or sweater if you tend to chill easily.2-don't pick a song with swear words, or if you do, make sure you don't actually sing them. The owner WILL make the DJ turn it off. (not a bad thing, IMHO)
I have been going to Anns for 28 years. We went there once a week for years. In all that time their food has been consistently wonderful. It is a very small place, but the service is quick and the food is always fresh and hot. We have ordered other things occasionally and it was always very good but we are addicted to that chicken fry!! The house dressing, garlic ranch is made fresh, it's creamy, mild and delish. I could say the same about the cream gravy, made fresh, creamy, mild, and delish. There are other places we like to go with great food but what keeps us coming around so often to Ann's is great food at a low price. In 28 years the only problem we had was the chicken fry getting a little bit too done. That has happened 3 or 4 times. We miss the original waitresses now. The ones that watched us become a family and watched our kids grow up. They were there so long, they felt like family to us. They still have great service and a lot of memorabilia mostly from the 50's, 60's. Oh Yummm, now I think I'm fixin' ta git me som'a that chick'n fry.
Excellent comfort food, but consistently dirty utensils. We went three times to this location. Each time we had to show our server dirty forks, knives and spoons. Knives had greasy fingerprints, several had FOOD stuck to them. You couldn't miss it. On our second visit, we spoke to the manager and recommended, at the very least, that those who roll their utensils should have clean hands and need better training to send them back for another wash.. The third visit, the manager never came to our table. That's enough for us. Dangerous bacterial infections are spread by dirty utensils. Beware. If the utensils are dirty, what else is, too?
This store (Freddy's at Penn and Memorial) is amazing. They are one of the best managed food places in OKC. I have 5 children and we LOVE going to Freddy's. We go to several of the Freddy's Frozen Custards and this is the most outstanding one of them all. My kids beg to go there. I used to manage a food restaurant for over ten years and I have found I am quite picky with the type of service I get with businesses. They go out of their way to make sure their customers are satified and treated well. Thank you for caring so much about your customers.
I have never seen a restaurant make such a messy Burger or what they call a Burger anyways... you mind as well ask them EVERYTIME to put your bun on the side or it will be mush by the time it reaches your table...which will probably be thirty to forty-five minutes just for two burgers and some fries... and don't even worry about answering them on how you want it cooked... waste of time. I have tried so many times to give them chance after chance to make something worth eating but they fail time after time! great menu but NO execution!!!
The food, service, and atmosphere was the best that I've received in a Soul Food Restaurant in a long time. The food was hot and cooked to order, no need to add any seasoning just hot sauce. Florence's provides a true down home family atmosphere with friendly staff (Kayla) and courtesy service attentive to the small things. The group that I was with had an opportunity to meet and take pictures with the founder/owner, who still manages the kitchen. Looking forward to my next visit to OKC!!!!
The food was good I just didn't like being seated as if it was formal dining. The waiter is working on a tip from the moment you walk in. I would have rather gone thru a line and paid instead of being hit up at the end before I leave like in a nice restaurant. Eating BBQ should be informal it seems. The baked beans were very good.
Worth the long wait. However, adults may go to the bar while waiting. Fast service, and the BEST smoked prime rib I have ever had is sold by the ounce. I had an 18oz cut and ate at the bar. Ate here many times, great experience each time. Enjoy a Marble Slab ice cream nearby after dinner. Wish Toby would open up here in JAX!
Great potato soup but the entrees are over priced. Go to Texas Roadhouse if you want a delicious steak at a reasonable price. Go to Saltgrass if you want an expensive steak that is worth the money. If you go to Charleston's, get a sandwich or salad and definitely order loaded potato soup. That menu item is the best in town!
Had the nachos and they were tasty and different. I had the BBQ brisket sandwich on pretzel roll that was filling and delicious. My wife had the club that wasn't generic in taste. The service was friendly an the atmosphere was calm especially considering we sat at the bar. I will definitely come back when I am back in OKC.
