The day of the hunt I took my daughter (12) and son to Venus, Fl where I was told I would meet the guide Lee Lightsey, owner of Outwest Farms. We arrived on time. Lee was late and did not seem too excited about taking us out. He then drove wildly through the hunting area following his dogs and scaring up hogs. I tried to explain to him that she was used to stand hunting, taking her time, and not simply wounding animals. Whenever we ran up on a group of hogs, Lee would tell her to shoot and then get aggravated when she didn’t throw the gun up and shoot at hogs running through the brush. After my daughter missed a hog in some brush and wounded another in some brush (which the guide nor his dogs could find in a fenced in property), Lee quickly became agitated with the us, his dogs (whom he beat with a rope to keep them quiet), and the overall situation. She took one more shot but missed, and Lee announced the hunt was over. I asked him about her hunting from a blind or stand, but he blew off whatever I said. He was done and that was it. Therefore, after a total of 1 hour, he took us back to their camp. I tried to talk to him about setting something else up, but he informed me that I owed him $175 dollars “right now”. When I told him I was going to call the owner and speak to him first, Lee became really hostile, locking me in the property and informing me that “What you need to do, is pay me my $175 before your kids see something they shouldn’t see.” At no time, had I said I would not pay for the hunt. I simply wanted to speak to the owner to see if he had any ideas prior to me leaving and making the journey back home. There was no explaining this to Lee who criticized my daughter with her present. He is truly a jerk. At that time, I put my kids in the truck, called the local Sheriff’s department, and waited for them to get there and unlock the gate. Needless to say, my kids were traumatized and the experience was horrible overall.
