Overall

The Golden Arches. Having been a kid growing up in the 1950's, I have many great memories. There was the Lone Ranger, Bobby Benson of the B Bar B Ranch, Sky King, The Mickey Mouse Club, Sergeant Preston, Big John and Sparky, The Green Hornet and so many others... (you probably have not heard of most of them) These were Real Americans with Common Sense and Old American Values. And then there were the Golden Arches, they ranked up there with all of them.. I can still remember when they had advertized selling a million hamburgers. Mc Donalds set the American Standard and for quality, service and what America was all about. To this day, it is the only fast food chain that the wife and I visit, because the quality has not changed from the time that Ray Kroc took the lead... He was a Real American that knew what the American people wanted and needed and he was proven right. Several weeks ago, I had to get some medical test done and I went to the VA Clinic in Okeechobee Fl. and that is a two hour round trip for me. We make a day of it, by buying groceries, stopping at the thrift store and of course the Golden Arches. On our last trip several weeks ago, when we got home, it was discovered that my wife had lost her purse along the way. We contacted the Okeechobee Police that the purse was missing and when we got home we called them again to see if they had heard anything... As they had not, we cancelled the Phone she had in the purse, and all the Credit Cards. In the weeks that passed, she applied for a new Drivers License, Social Security Card, Medical Card, and we had to contact all the businesses that had automatic withdrawal for bills....ALL our bills are on automatic withdrawal and as all the credit cars were not good, we had to notify them of the card change... We were only on the phone for about four to six hours. The Police checked the cameras at Wall Mart to see if it had been taken from the car while we were shopping, to no avail. Then after more than two weeks later, we get a call from the police that stated that Mc Donalds had called and stated that a purse had been left there over two weeks ago. WTF. They held on to the purse for over two weeks without calling us or notifying the police. Anyone working at Mc Donnalds cleaning the toilets or sweeping the floor is intelligent enough to know that when you find a purse, you try to contact the owner through the phone book, or if it would happen to be an unlisted number, (which it was not,) you would call the police and they would pick it up within the hour and trace it down. When a purse is found in a business, the Manager would tell the Assistant Manager, who would tell anyone working there that a purse was found in case anyone came in or called.Yesterday we were contacted by the Okeechobee Police that the purse had been turned in to them, after two weeks of being there. Had someone acted on the finding of the purse, we would have saved ourselves hours of phone calls and lots of money, as they DO NOT give you new documentation for FREE.We will still talk about the good old days and what America use to be... But rather than talking about American Heroes, the first topic of discussion will be the Tarnished Golden Arches. OH, when we did our two hour round trip drive to pick up the purse from the Police Station today, we did stop at Mc Donalds ,,, as we always do... I did not bother to question anyone working there,,, as I did not want to make a scene... I might not have been very polite in my conversation. Not long ago, I sent an e mail to Chick-Fil-A complementing them on being a Real American Company, as they have Old American Values and are making an effort to keep this country at a standard that it once was... It is a possibility that they will become more of an American Icon as the golden arches. This country is going to hell in a hurry and Mc Donalds seems to be following suit. What would Ray Kroc have to say about it ? john sbiegay
