I havn't been to Texas since 1968 but I am so happy to know that Earl Abel's Restaurant is still in operation! I worked there briefly in 1968 before my Military husband was deployed to Vietnam. I believe the World's Fair was just down the road and we did a bustling business. I absolutely loved working there. The people were great, the food was fantastic and it was about the nicest restaurant I had been to. I left employment abruptly when the Hostess brought me a party of 15 to wait on. I could bearly stand the smell of food because I was newly pregnant and was having morning sickness. All these years later I still have fond memories of working there and even remember the names of some of the other employees. Tonight I found my old name tag and a menu from 1968 which prompted me to google Earl Abel's. I have lived in California all these years - but I have never forgotten what a great place Earl Abel's was, and looks like still is. If I ever return to Texas, I will definitely put Earl Abels' on my route. Stay in business!!! Laurie Akin (Spangler) Woodland, CA.
I get the family meal here a few times a year. The customer service is good. Overall the food is very good. The brisket and the green beans are exceptional. The BBQ sauce could be a little better. It's a little too runny for me. I will go back.
After reading on your website that 70% of your menu is gluten free my family & I were very excited to visit the Huebner location on Mother's Day. My son & I both have Celiac Disease & have to eat gluten free. We got there & were told the wait for our family of 5 could be over 2 hours. The family…

The place is really fantastic...especially if you're a smoker. Since we get cast-out everywhere, IHOP is one of the only places with a functional smoking section. There are two waiters, Patrick and Shirley that are just consistently AWESOME. I always go later in the evening/night. It's not so bu…

Best place to have a great breakfast or lunch in the city. Much better than Panera or Jason's Deli down the road. The food was fresh tasted great... I had the Ruben Panini and cup of the potato soup. I wish they had more than one location!
Excellent service. Great ambiance. The stuffed flounder is exquisite. Highly recomend the stuffed mushrooms as well as the fettucini alfredo. Child friendly, low-key, romantic setting for those of us who have to balance both simultaniously. Elegant private booths also. Especially inviting when t…
We chose Las Ramblas for our anniversary dinner based solely on the Citysearch reviews. I was very pleased with the meal and the service. We were able to sit outside and the restaurant was situated on a quiet stretch of the Riverwalk. I would recommend Las Ramblas to anyone who would like a n…

26. Kolache Stop
Great change of pace from your typical fast food. So many varieties, the best would have to be the chicken club for lunch, and the sausage for breakfast. They are always so fresh and they make fruit smoothies Definitly worth a visit!

I don't think alot of these people that are leaving negative reviews are really educated in the history of Earl Abels. THe old location had been there for many many years and back in the 50s it was THE place to go to. So, naturally as these youngsters from the 50's grew up, they continued to go there because they had always gone there. So, the whole geriatric vibe that you get when you go there has just been explained. If you grew up going somewhere and it was still open when you were a senior, wouldn't you want to go and relive your youth? I have never once experianced anything bad there and their food has always been great. The chicken fried steak is huge and you definatly get your money's worth on that. Maybe some of the waitresses are in their 70's, but that brings us back to the whole fact that its been a san antonio favorite for many many years. Maybe some of these reviews are written by people that haven't been a Texan for very long. GO HOME YANKEES
Thursday afternoon about 15 of my lady friends and I came in to have our monthly lunch with the Betty Ford Group. Erin was our server and she was fantastic. She described all the dishes we had questions about and helped us choose the perfect lunch entree. The food took a little longer than we had planned on, but Erin brought us out dinner rolls and crackers until our entrees were ready. We never had to ask for refills and she did not rush our lunch. Most of us were too full for dessert, but she recommended we take a slice of cake or pie home, which I was very excited about later that evening. We were each on our own separate tickets and Erin had no problems keeping us all separate and she had exact change for all of us. We have this luncheon almost every month and we would like to have Erin every time. She is by far the best waitress we have ever had!!!!! Thank you very much for such a perfect lunch and we will be back next month.
Earl Abel's is still the best fried chicken in town. If you go there, only order that and pie to go. The rest of the menu has gone from ok to horrible. The service has gone downhill as well. Actually, I would recommend you just order your chicken as take out and pick it up. At least you won't have to worry about the service in your own home! I used to go to the original place with my grandfather and get the fried chicken all the time. I remember a place that always had old people but good service and good food. Too bad that is not the case anymore.
my wife and i went for breakfast on sunday morning (8/2/2009). we have gone to other IHOPs with good sevice and warm food. this was our second visit. we were forgotten several times. we had to wave for somebody, so they could find our waitress. our food was almost cold. my wife had wanted a refill on her water, the waitress said she would be right back, after awhile she came back and asked my wife if she still wanted water? we always leave a tip-this is one of the very few times that we left no tip. unhappy customers
A group of 6 of my friends and I went here for lunch on a weekday. The customer service was excellent. The food prices were reasonable. Our food came out fairly quickly. Overall all my friends were satisfied. I had the Pueblo Burger. It was good but I was expecting more. It’s supposed to be “HOT”. Maybe it’s hot for non-Texas folks. The homemade chips that came with it were nothing special. I will go back.
I am a big breakfast lover. I have been to many places in San Antonio trying all kinds of breakfast joints. By far this has to be the best breakfast here. Their sausage patty and pancakes are my fav. The only thing is the wait time. Believe me, it is worth the wait. On the weekends if you don't get there before 8:30am you will be waiting 45min-1hr.
There sometimes is not much to smile about when working the "Graveyard" shift--yet when I stopped into Denny's, I found the wait-staff as well as the cook energetic and engaging, despite the crowded atmosphere. They provided good food at a reasonable price, with a smile on their face.
This Dennys is the best to go. The servers are amazing and the hostess is sooo beautiful. She's so gorgeous and such a sweetheart. I love seeing her, her smile brights up my day. The hostess should be American next top model! What incredible service. Keep it up!
This Ihop is nice. The waitresses will chat with you and help you understand the menu. The place is kept clean and the waiting area is always orderly. The food is great and it doesn't take a long time to be served. I would recommend this Ihop.
