I really thought I was done with this dealership after getting rid of the Jetta that I returned because of the whole diesel fraud back in April 2017. Well the third part agent didn't tell me I need to go on the DMV site to change ownership. Got a letter from DMV that the registration is still in my name and needed to renew the registration. Called DMV left a message and two days later Brian calls me to get that take care of. He was to send over the authorization form via email and told me to call if I didn't have it. Well I didn't get it........

The first sales rep I got kept saying Brian isn't there yet I JUST talked with him 60 seconds ago. I tried to explain that I had just talked with him and if he could just go check who handles the dmv registration changeovers. He left me on hold until the phone went to voicemail because he simply didn't want to deal with finding the right Brian or connecting me with someone who could help Felinda, the manager. Then I called back to get ANOTHER incompetent employee who got me over to another employee who left me on hold for so long that my phone call AGAIN went to voice mail. I called back a third time and this time asked for the manger Felinda. I asked to speak to her directly. I was patched through to her VOICEMAIL. So I called back to get her on the line. At this point I'm livid and rightly so. So I kept calling back until someone would get off their a** and actually do something to help me. That took 10 call backs until some found her. Seems that the only way to get anyone to respond at VW is to be the squeaky wheel. Niceness doesn't work at this dealership.

I truly hope that this place goes out of business. With the way I have been treated there starting with the guy who leased me my jetta in 2013 to today, I truly hope that no one else has the displeasure of dealing with their rudeness.

It was a very good experience.

It was a very good experience. It didn't take too long and we were able to work out the numbers reasonably and fast.

I have the cursed Jetta TDI. The check engine light came on and the dealership is charging me $651 to replace the Rear oxygen sensor. What a bunch of crooks!

The manager's explanation was it takes his mechanic at least an hour to find the problem ($175/hour). Really Webster!!! These days to find a electrical issue with a NEW car you hook it up to a computer which spits out a error code telling you exactly where to find the problem. It takes less then 5 minutes. And I did verify this with 3 other VW shops (dealer and non-dealers).

Now the Rear O2 sensor is a plug so literately you have to dig a bit (no more the 30 min max) to get to the plug, pull it out and replace it. That's it. I actually watched the guy at the shop where I took my car in for a repair do it so don't try and tell me YOUR mechanics that are VW TRAINED will take over an hour to replace it.

So the max you should be charging for the work is $145 + the $250 for the part. That's a total of $400.

I've been coming to the shop for almost 10 years now. I explained that this month I've been hit by hospital expenses and it's my daughter's 16th Birthday. You'd think they'd at least be honest with their charges. NOPE! They don't care. As long as the money goes in their pocket what does it matter if they are overcharging.

The whole service office staff has changed since my previous visit. It's now run by the crooked Webster and his hooligans. I would highly discourage anyone from using them.

I found a great shop in Berkeley that does VW repair. You can message me for the name if you want. HONEST, solid people. Got the whole job done for $330 + tax. Still out the $175 to VW for the supposed hour it took for the mechanic to hook the car up to the computer and read the error on the screen. Sounds to me the money went to pay for reading lessons for him so he code read the instructions the computer was giving him because he sure wasn't digging under my hood.

Came through at every turn

Had a great time here today! Worked with Tolao and a couple of his comrades. Very smart, wholesome, positive, competent bunch of people! Highly recommended. I was there all day trying various cars and they came through at every turn. Thanks, all!

Patient, communicative

Allow me to say that I foolishly avoided the VW dealership service because of really horrible treatment we received in Georgia. But the moment I walked in, Matt immediately took care of helping me. I felt that he was patient, communicative, clear, and understood our situation. He followed up repeatedly and I was incredibly impressed with the level of customer care I received. They have swayed me back!!

Actually pleasant

Dave and John (in finance, not sure if this is the right name) were wonderful. For the first time ever, I found the experience of buying a car actually pleasant. Kudos! We can easily recommend your dealership to our friends. And.... I love my new Jetta Sportswagon.

We love our new Tiguan

The USAA car buying service coupled with the efficiency and competence of our salesperson (Dave Parsons) made our car buying experience enjoyable and effortless. We love our new Tiguan.

No surprises at all

Im very happy with service! I brought my daughters car in for service, the car was finished on time, I was informed of the procedure from start to finish, no surprises at all. I wanted to check out the CC, which is why I took daughters car in for her. Great car, learned all about the bells and whistles, coming back to purchase it for my wife. The staff in service and sales seem to enjoy the jobs they have, and really love the product they are selling and servicing. The staff is funny, and I had a good time hanging out waiting for my daughters car. Easy in, easy out.

They make owning a VW a pleasure

I have bought 3 cars (1 new bugs and 2 used jettas) from Oakland Volkswagen. I have had a GREAT expereince each time with the salesman who were well informed and fair, but not pushy. I have then also serviced all my cars there. The service department is excellent and flexible (Marina is wonderful!). I have even had to rush in for a few things, and they have always worked it out to fit my schedule. They make owning a VW a pleasure.

No pressure

I have 2 small children and to even consider purchasing a car with the little monkeys running around on us I thought, we need to do it now or never! The interior is nice and clean, my salesperson Mike was young but knowledgeable and very friendly. There was no pressure , I would say from start to finish 1 hour, includes test drive and negotiations. It was very smooth and no slimy people, I thought a monster was going to come out of the closet from the reviews. I'm always for the underdog so thank you for my new car and a great experience!

Great experience

Tolao and David were great, responded quickly when I was ready to purchase, and helped to make the process happen. Great experience overall, and one I would want to repeat.

As a current customer of Oakland Volkswagen, I am disappointed to read the many bad reviews. I have been to many different dealerships in the past and Oakland was by far was my most satisfying experience. I purchased a 2010 Tourareg 2 from a overly nice sales man, JD Livesay (I highly recommend him). All of my questions were answered, along with more helpful information. I find it ignorant that the former customers are complaining about the pricing. I am quite positive when you go on to Oakland Volkswagen's website there are plenty of options starting with the word SEARCH. Search pricing, services, etc. If you had the common sense to research your next vehicle, or services, you would not be shocked when they give you your bill. As for customer service, I had no regrets what so ever. I actually had the pleasure of conversing with the owner, Michael Murphy, whom was very informative and reassuring. I will continue to go back for many reasons. Volkswagen of Oakland is a highly reputable dealership. I am extremely happy with my new vehicle!

Very professional dealership

Very professional dealership. As always I walk into a dealership with the expectation of meeting pushy sales associates that talk circles around me and make me feel like I misled them if I didn't buy a car. I made a few different trips to Oakland Volkswagen and left without buying a car and to my surprise the Salesman did not make me feel guilty for ""wasting their time"". Due to this, when I was ready and felt like I had taken the appropriate time to research the car I wanted, I returned and was able to pick out the car that I was looking for, for a great price.

Feel important and cared for

I recently had the pleasure of attending a VW new owners dinner here in Oakland about a month after my purchase and I must say I was impressed. The food was delicious and it was great to meet all of the VW family. Hearing from each department and getting to know the faces was informative and helpful. Of course I'm in love with my car so it doesn't take much to make me happy but it was refreshing to see a dealership do something extra for their customers and make them feel important and cared for. I'm sure in the future the luster of my car will wear off but my impression of Oakland VW will not. Great job!

This place rules!

This place rules! Seriously. I dealt with Justin, John Wong, and Nick. First ,Nick (the salesman) did a great job at showing me EVERY feature on the Car I wanted.... the last car I leased (at another dealership)they didn't bother showing me anything. I took one of their mini SUVs for a spin and liked it but didn't love it. I asked for something a bit smaller..a GTI. I had some specific things I needed and Justin (Who it seems is their ""go to guy"" for nearly everything from financial, to ""deal building"", to finding cars) found one for me and got it to the dealer ship in less than than 30 minutes from Dublin. They weren't rushing me...I was rushing them and they were working with my schedule. Then the Financial advisor, John, took the time to expain how to build up credit (mine was ok but not great) to even higher ranks. He was more knowledgeable than anyone i've ever talked to regarding credit scores, loans, buying vs leasing (just ask him which is better), etc. Seriously, he should work at a fortune 500 company! Anyway, a great experience overall....

Presented all options.

This review is for the NEW car buying at Oakland VW. I give them highest marks for listening and recognize the fix I was in with another VW dealer and going to work immediately to find the car I wanted. The owner's son, Nick, ended up working all day to find me the vehicle I wanted at an unbelievably low price. He presented all options and went out of his way to make sure I was happy, which after working with a bunch of Bay Area new car dealers, is hard to find around here. I highly recommend this dealership for new car purchase - if you have any problems, get in touch with Nick!

Can't say ENOUGH good things about VW of Oakland!!! I bought my car here and had a great experience. Now, I travel from San Francisco to Oakland just to have my car serviced because I'm so well taken care of - it's that worth it to me! Marina hooks me up... Love, love, LOVE Volkswagen of Oakland!
