Established in 1961, Association of Bay Area Governments is an official comprehensive planning agency and is located in Oakland, Calif. It examines regional issues, such as housing, transportation, economic development, education and environment. Its biennial projections series provide long-term forecasts through a series of computer models. It performs research and analysis on a variety of subjects, including retail sales, income distribution, regional migration, patterns of business development and regional infrastructure. It works with a variety of local, regional and state agencies to pursue environmental planning, including solid waste reduction efforts, regional hazardous waste facility planning and simplification of aquatic permitting. Its hazardous waste facility allocation committee developed the program and provides policy oversight. It offers a full range of programs to public and private borrowers in the municipal capital markets.
