Great Clinic!

I bring my very expensive dogs to this clinic because they are the best vet team around. I drive from out of town for these folks, especially Dr. Heather Wise, to take care of my animals. They are flexible and have fit my animals in their schedule on short notice. Compared to my previous vets this animal hospital is very competitively priced. Their puppy packages are a money saver! Dr. Wise is also very good and knowledgeable about bunnies, which can be hard to find. I will continue to do business with this clinic.

I wouldnt bring my ferrets here again. Yes there friendly nice people here. But they made a huge mistake which resulted in having to put my little guy down. I had brought my ferret (Zayne) in cause he was urinating blood. They weigh him in his crate and said they would weigh the crate later. X-rays concluded that he had bladder stones, so we went with the $700 surgery. They called when he was ready to be picked up. Saying that they had trouble waking him up from anesthesia and that he want breathing on his own, but they got him to wake up.

The first night with him he was a happy little ferret. Then it just went down hill from there. He was really staining to use the restroom, then started not to eat/ drink, absolutely no energy and became very bloated. So we took him in cause we felt something was very wrong. But they had ensured me everything was normal. The next day after trying to force feed/ UV fluids and it was about 5 days trying this. He started puking up clotted blood, I just knew something had to be wrong. So I called the vet and told them how concerned I was and they told me they would call me right back. An hour went by and no call. So I just brought him in him in anyways. Come to find out he had an ulser and his kidney were failing. And there was nothing they could do. So I had to put him down. They had have him too much anesthesia by not by weighing him in the crete and not weighing the crete later on. So his body began to shut down. They had no clue about ferrets and I will never bring my other ferrets here.

Both Gentle Doctor and Tender ...

Both Gentle Doctor and Tender Care Animal Hospitals have wonderful and caring veterinarians, techs, and staff. Dr. McCool, aka Dr. Bob, began caring for my four-legged kids in 1998 at Suburban Animal Hospital in North County. When he and Dr. Lori opened Tender Care and Gentle Doctor, I drove the 25+ mile trip rather than going to any of the vet clinics closer to my home. It has been worth the drive to take my feline and ferret kids to Gentle Doctor and Tender Care where I know they will get first-rate care. When I walk through the doors at Gentle Doctor and Tender Care, I feel like my four legged kids are the only patients they see. Everyone is professional and compassionate and go the extra mile to ensure my kids receive the best treatment possible so they can have an excellent quality of life.

When my ferret kid Siduri started to experience seizures in late 2009, Dr. Bob began a course of treatment so she could have a relatively normal ferret life. I called him weekly to keep him updated on Siduri's condition. If he was not available, I talked to Dr. Judy who then gave Dr. Bob the update. Being able to talk to Dr. Bob and Dr. Judy made it easier for me to provide Siduri with the care she needed when she had a seizure. We worked as a team to ensure Siduri maintained a good quality of life for as long as possible. In late November 2010, Siduri's seizures increased in both frequency and duration. Dr. Judy patiently listened to me as I was struggling with doing what was best for Siduri. She and Dr. Bob suggested trying another seizure medication in hopes of stabilizing Siduri's seizures. It was the medication of last resort. Unfortunately, the seizures continued. On Monday, December 6, 2010, I called Tender Care to let them know Siduri was in grave condition--her medications were having little effect on her seizures. Dr. Judy was there when I brought Siduri in. She was not quite ready to give up on Siduri. So, I agreed to allow Dr. Judy to try to get Siduri's seizures under control. For a short while, Siduri's seizures subsided. She responded to me when I gave her one of her favorite treats. However, the seizures returned. I called my husband at work and we decided it was time end Siduri's suffering. After getting her footprint in a clay heart with a small lavender flower, Siduri died peacefully in my arms with one of her favorite toys lying next to her. Dr. Judy and the rest of the Tender Care staff gave me privacy so Freya (Siduri’s sister) and I could say our final goodbyes.

Over the years when it came time to say good-bye to one of our kids, everyone at Gentle Doctor and Tender Care mourned with my husband and I so we did not feel alone in our grief. Siduri’s passing was no different. After some comforting hugs from Dr. Judy and others, I do not believe there was one dry eye at Tender Care when I took Freya home. Dr. Bob called me the next day, which help ease my grief a little. I truly appreciated him taking time out of his day to call me.

I am forever grateful to Dr. Bob, Dr. Judy, Dr. Julie, and the many wonderful staff members for the care and support they have given not only to my kids but to my husband and me as well. Thanks!

I have been going to Gentle Do...

I have been going to Gentle Doctor for several years with my cats but it was just recently that I found out how much they really care for animals AND humans. Not long ago, I experienced an emergency situation with a dog ( I'm not the owner). I called the Gentle Doctor and even though I was very upset, the receptionist remained calm and listened. She did not hesitate when I asked if I could bring the dog in right away. When I got to the clinic, I had been crying because I thought for sure the little dog would need to be put to sleep. Everyone was patient and kind to me. Dr. Melissa came in and listened to the whole long story, examined her and stated she thought she could be nursed back to health but that it would be a long recovery. I was stunned but very happy. Since then, I have been back most days to visit and she has made a fantastic recovery. The staff state how much they love having her around and how precious she is. I honestly believe that without their love, she would not be at the recovery stage that she is in. They live up to the name, Gentle. I don't think I could ever find another group of people as loving, caring and dedicated as those at Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital.

My first visit to Tender Care ...

My first visit to Tender Care was to euthanize my dog. This was my first experience with them. The staff was so compassionate and comforting to me during such an awufl time. They let me take all the time I needed with my dog to say goodbye. It was a kindness I will never forget.

So when I adopted 2 new dogs the local animal shelter recommended Tender Care for follow up medical treatment. No surprise with that because the staff is awesome! They are the most compassionate and kind people I've ever had treat my dogs. I am always greeted warmly when I arrive with my dogs. Each staff member is introduced to me by name. The vets, recently it was Dr. Judy, get on the floor with the dogs to make them feel comfortable. No slipping off a cold, metal examining table. It helps to reduce the stress to my dogs. Before any shots or treatments are given, you are shown the bill first. That way there are no surprises. I felt like Dr. Judy gave my dogs a thorough annual exam checking their ears, mouth, paws, etc. My dogs are overweight and Dr. Judy gave me sound advice on how to reduce their weight and recommending I bring them back in a month for a re-weigh. I feel like they really care about me and my pets. They have flexible hours so we can usually be worked into the schedule.

I have been a client at Gentle Doctor/Tender Care Animal Hospital since bringing home my puppy this past December and have been impressed with every facet of their care. Most recently, my puppy became ill and I had to make a last-minute appointment at the hospital. The staff was accommodating, professional, and caring—I didn’t have to wait to have a doctor see her and they didn’t make me feel rushed. Throughout the course of the visit, the staff was personable and patient: they each introduced themselves and made my puppy comfortable with them, explained precisely what course of action they recommended in a way I could understand, and made clear the cost and level of necessity of each action. In addition to being reminded (as I am at every visit) to call anytime I had questions or concerns, I even received a follow-up phone call from her technician the following morning to check on her recovery and answer any additional questions I had. I feel confident that my puppy would be safely and lovingly cared for by any of the members of staff.

I have been a client of Gentle Doctor since 2004. I have several pets, and they take care of each one like they are their own. Recently I had to put down my 14 year old cat, he had been sick for a very long time but because of the guidance and care of the staff I was able to have him for 2 years longer than expected. Everyone is professional, caring, and the doctors are some of the brightest, they take the time to explain the best course of care. Thanks for all you do.

I have come to GDAH for about 4 years now, I have always had a positive experience. The staff is awesome and the prices are reasonable. Our last visit I was nervous about my cat being put under sedation and Tara eased my mind completely by explaining the caution that is taken. Thank you so much!

I have a 4 month old Shichon named Cubbie, who I brought to Tender Care Animal Hospital to be spayed. I can't tell you how pleased I was with their service! Everyone was very informative and professional. The doctor even agreed to see me before Cubbies' procedure to answer any and all of my questions, while the nurse was in that back figuring out a way to save me money for Cubbies' last set of shots! This place is amazing! Not only do they love working with animals in general.. they LOVE your animal, and from the time you drop him/her off they will treat your baby like it's their own!! Thank you for taking such great care of my little Cubbers'!

Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital ...

Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital is amazing. We started taking our dogs there after the wonderful experience we had with our 11 puppies. Dr. Melissa was so calm (with 11 crazy labs running around) and thorough with every single puppy. The prices are great and staff are very personable. We now take our 3 Labradors there and wouldn't consider anywhere else. My daughter (4) loves taking her dog to the vet to see all the "friends" she knows there. They are very informative and always answer every question without a doubt. I have recommended friends and family there, and have got many compiments on the referal.

Excellent Care & Service

I have been a client of Dr. Bob's for ten years at Gentle Doctor and Tender Care Animal Hospital. My beloved golden retriever Alex, always had excellent care. He loved Dr. Bob and his staff. Overall, we have always had excellent service. Alex loved coming to see everyone. He felt very comfortable at both locations. I have always been impressed with Dr. Bob's willingness to answer our questions and his compassionate care. He truly is a dedicated and wonderful veterinarian. I have also been impressed with his staff of veterinarians: Dr. Judy, Dr. Susan, Dr. Kevin, and Dr. Amy. I am very particular and wanted only the best for Alex. I have found the best care and Vets at Gentle Doctor and Tender Care Animal Hospitals. Unfortunately, Alex died of Cancer several weeks ago. I could not have asked for better care from the receptionists, technicians, and Veterinarians. I thank them for their wonderful care, support, and service.

Love this place

I love going to Gentle Doctor. The staff is always friendly and helpful. My dog loves to see everyone there too. He gets so much love from the time we walk through the door to the time we leave. The doctors seem to listen and take the time to listen to any problems we may be having. I tell all my friends to go there.
