A previous reviewer mentioned that we should not be deceived by the presence of foreign cars at KDS! I can attest to that because my foreign car was there 7 months, mostly outside, during winter, damaging the convertible top and resulting in over $2,000 in paint damage. But, more importantly, I was continually deceived about repairs being completed when they wern’t. After months of deception and delays, I was told the car was done, but it still took another month of almost daily calling to get Mr Herman to release it. When I did get it, the major repair was not done, and the car was a mess, missing parts, misplaced parts, and the aforementioned paint and convertible top damage. I shudder to think what would have happened if I had taken it back to get it properly fixed. I contacted the Better Business Bureau to complain, and they said KDS is not a member, and therefore they can do nothing!!! Isn’t it odd that KDS would not be a member?? Sadly, it is not odd at all!!!Use KDS at your own risk, and be prepared for trouble!!!

Horrible business, horrible owner. Stay away! Avoid here and now in Northville! I had my vehicle repaired about a year and a half ago by Steve Herman, owner of KDS Automotive. I spent 2000 dollars and constant delays fixing my vehicle and after less than three months I brought it in again to service, but this time Steve, as the "expert" mechanic that he is stated my vehicle had a rod knock and I could spend another 700 dollars with no guarantee of it fixing the problem. I ultimately decide to purchase another vehicle and Steve agrees to purchase my damaged vehicle from me for 800 dollars which I use toward my new purchase (he says he would need to purchase a new engine for my old vehicle and would use it as a loaner). As with new vehicle purchases it was quite a whirlwind ordeal and I sign my old title over to Steve, but ask him if I could come back the next day to clean out my belongings as I was in the process of moving and was signing the deal on the new vehicle that evening. He had no issues and stated that my old vehicle will be sitting out back for at least a couple weeks. Low and behold the next day the vehicle was gone! He ends up getting the vehicle detailed and spiffed up for selling (no new engine mind you),and throws my belongings in garbage bags and keeps them at his house!What happens next is WEEKS of calling him asking for my belongings to be returned, which he only returned a few bags (soggy and wet) initially the couple days after he took the vehicle in to be detailed - then the rest was an ongoing hassle. Eventually, after weeks of frustration it was found he wasn't keeping my remaining belongings, but a friend was keeping them locked up in storage and he was on "vacation". About $300 worth of resellable items were kept and never returned.Avoid this place. This man is a scam artist and overall horrible businessman. There are other reviews on Yellow Pages from other customers who were scammed into believing their vehicles had it and they sold them to Steve for nothing so he could make a quick buck. Totally disappointed, workmanship is low quality and not worth hourly rate. Job completed but parts improperly installed and / or missing. Parts deemed to be unnecessary were thrown aside rather than reinstalled. Factory fasteners (expensive to replace) lost and replaced with whatever. Don't let the collection of imports in the parking lot fool you. They do not have the attention to detail required to service luxury imports. If you value you car and expect quality workmanship, I recommend you go elsewhere.
Best and most honest mechanic I know. He always does a superb job when my vehicles need repair. Always fast courteous service, I recently had a repair done and he reminded me that I had purchased the part up north and it should still be under warranty. Even though he didn't do the original work he did the repair, had the part delivered for a minimal charge. Will always take my cars here!
Picked up a uhaul on Saturday, June 27th. Rude old guy in a scummy, dirty, office completed the contract. I used the van for 3 hours to move a brand new refrigerator and a bed with the help of family. The items were located in indoor heated storage but it was raining outside. When I returned the van the guy said I can send you a receipt online so you won't have to wait. I said okay. I then sat in my car that was blocked in the parking lot by the van. He opened the gate, looked inside and then drove the van away. later that night i received my bill with an additional $25 cleaning fee. I am OUTRAGED that a business that looked like a flea invested dirty slimy place could do this. I consider this theft. Don't recommend this location. Go to uhaul in Plymouth, clean nice courteous.
Picked up a uhaul truck on Saturday Nov 8, The man in the front office was waiting on a woman who was there before us. She was given a set of keys for a van and a few seconds later returned saying the keys would not work. The man behind the desk became enraged and jumped up swearing while he slammed his chair across the room almost knocking down his printer he stormed out the door to the van and could not get the key to work either. This enraged him further and while being very rude to the woman also began on my daughter and me. I will never use this business again for uhaul or for car service there was no reason to treat customers like that.
