        Many people are safeguarding the cremated remains of a loved one by storing those cremains in their household. A time comes when the holder realizes that the cremains no longer provide a comforting connection to the deceased. The holder becomes ready to take the next step. The next step is to decide between continuing to store the cremains in the home or elsewhere, or to release them from their container. Parkland Peace assists the holder in freeing the ashes from confinement…letting cremains become part of the beauty of nature. Having secured permits from national and state parks, we have established wonderful sites in which to settle cremains for you. The GPS coordinates of the site will be provided to you upon request, should you wish to come to that area of the park at a future time. Family and friends of the deceased are welcome to witness or participate in the settling service. If unable to attend, family and friends may send a brief letter, poem or prayer to be read, or a recording to be played. Writings or recordings may be included in the box when mailing a container of cremains to Parkland Peace. We recommend mailing by U.S. Post Office, either first-class or Priority. Parkland Peace manages the legal, logistical and physical processes of properly settling cremains. Settling is our term for removing cremated remains from a container, preparing them ecologically for release, and letting them blend with Earth. Mail cremains now to Parkland Peace for ethical, respectful and caring settlement according to your directives. Our service is to transition cremains from storage into sunlight. One of our settling sites is Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. This National Park Service parkland was voted the Most Beautiful Place in America by viewers of ABC’s Good Morning America in 2011.
