        Open Door Nursery Schools preschool program has been welcoming and engaging children in Northfield, Minnesota since 1966. Our classes for children 3-6 years old are based on a 2-day, 3-day or 5-day schedule and can be combined to meet the needs of busy families.

        Amenities
        Each season, children at Open Door hike through the prairie and wetlands at St. Olaf College to experience the wonders of nature up close. St. Olaf Biology students lead our excursions where we listen to, touch, and see first-hand the creatures and plants that make their homes here. The St. Olaf Students also bring exciting, hands-on activities, highlighting our environment, into our classroom each month.Our annual field trips to the Carleton Weitz Center for the Arts are a favorite time for Open Door kids. Under the guidance of Carleton Arts Students we dance, move, and experience art like never before. We are proud to partner with these two great colleges, and to take part in the rich educational opportunities our community has to offer.

        Overall

        Open Door Preschool offers consecutive class days to reduce the "transition" time each time they meet, play and fun are the focus of instruction and they take what they learn inside outside through partnerships with the colleges. The teachers instilled self-confidence and independence in my high energy boys. They let them explore, play and directed their interests to academic subjects. They are phenomenal and very patient!

        Overall

        It is a great place for children to have their first school experience! Class sizes are small. The teachers are caring and know how to make learning fun! Children can be children! We love the environmental program which allows our children to work with St. Olaf students!
