In puerto Rico this bread is known only to the neighborhood in which the makers operated. When told to come to the US they imported from puerto Rico the dough. Daily flights helped them keep up with the demand. The bread is "sobado" meaning that it is smooth and fresh with a thin crust covering a delicious inside. You don't have to struggle to get to the real flavorfull bread. It holds together and does not fall apart, It is not hard like Sarcones and its not flacky like South Phial Italian bread, It stays moist and does not dry up in half hour. When you bite into a sandwich made with this bread it does not flack all over your clothers, and does not turn into a wet rag like the bread used in Ginos hoagies. I loved the bread . It is now made here. If you love your bread, I recomend you try it and while you are there, look up the delicious pastry.

I went here because I was intrigued that they actually had a vegan cheese option so that even the dairy allergic could have a Cheese steak. I spent just under $20 (cash only, ATM inside) on two sandwiches, a club and a cheese steak with The Works. I didn't buy any drinks and they were out of soft pretzels. I looked around for condiments but the line was very long and the register girl was busy, so I didn't bother to ask. The service was courteous overall and we got our food quickly. Like other reviews say, there is nothing super special about the sandwiches. There ARE vegan options which is awesome if you need that. The casual atmosphere is good for families, but I will say when we were there this evening, in mid July, it was CRAZY SWEATY HOT inside!
Jean's Pizzeria is a small time shop with big taste. My first experience with Jeans is nothing short of miraculous. With the excellent people behind the counter and the always joking man running the place, Jean's Pizzeria is going places. Walking into Jeans is like walking into an air conditioned room on a 90 degree day. While placing your order at Jeans expect to be chomping down in under five minutes. I am of course talking about delivery. Jeans Pizza is so Phenomenal it taste like it was made by Jesus himself. Biting into a Jeans cheese steak is a memorable experience each time, and the chicken parm is superb. After 50 years of searching for the perfect pizza i have finally found it.. Thank you, Jeans
Would never buy lunch meat or hoagies from anywhere else. And I have shopped many thru out the city. A constant flow of customers makes a quick turn around at the deli that everything served is always fresh. You are served quickly even when your 10th in line. The employees are steadily moving behind the counter and provide excellent service. They are pleasant and courteous and most helpful. Admire management with the way the business runs and is kept in the cleanest condition. I recommend Reens to everyone. Their products have taken with me to the shore, the mts, and my family who live in various parts of the area. Thank you Reens.
What ever happen to the customer is always right. This store is another reason why its not always good to go to the neighborhood that is a hole in the wall. We tried to overlook the condition of the store and even tried to overlook the customer service, yet they got out of hand with the unprofessional way that they handle the food, customers. This gives enough reason for myself and family members not to patronize this store any longer. They wont get our dollars. To Owners-Clean up inside and outside, Get good Food Preparers and Please hire those that have professional customer service skills.
If you want a sandwich that will bust your belt without busting your wallet, Mi Pal's is the place for you. The sandwiches are made to order and are big enough to satisfy the biggest appetite. We also used them for catering our daughter's graduation block party. The food was affordable and plentiful. Everyone at the party was raving about the taste and quality and were all asking where the food was made. Mi Pal's menu is diverse but their selection doesn't stop there. If you don't see what you want on the menu, just ask them. If they can, they'll make it for you.
I have survived one World War and survived Vietnam. I have eaten the finest cuisines across the world. Never in my time on this Earth have I had the pleasure of tasting anything as delicious as the hoagies from this fine establishment. I would go back to Vietnam just to find the place where the owners of this delicatessen learned their magical talent for sandwich craftsmanship. I have killed many Vietnamese people. Many, many Vietnamese people and I thank the gods none of them were the father of the owner of this deli.
A delightful Italian styled Deli nestled in the Packer Ave Shopping Center. The sandwich trays for parties and events have been a tasty pleasure over the years. Fresh pasta and the other delight in the store are ready to go, I enjoyed it at home or sometimes on the road when we are traveling. Why eat anyplace else, for this true to form Italian deli. Good Food, good people behind the counter, and the Owner is right there making sure it is always tops. I go back time after time, I am sure you will too!!
When I was growing up, there were 2 or 3 premier Hoagie Shops that everyone knew about and would come near and far to patronize. Over the years those types of Hoagie shops faded away, well if you remember that time, I am here to tell you that K & A Sandwiches really live up to there motto, "Best hoagies in South Philly" (I understand they have one in West Philly), their hoagies are fresh, delicious and belly filling. From now on I won't be going anywhere else!!!
