A private, nonprofit corporation, Clinch Valley Community Action was established in 1965. Locally managed, CVCA is governed by a board of directors for the purpose of reducing poverty and promoting self-sufficiency of the poor. Located in North Tazelwall, Va., CVCA operates a variety of major programs, totaling more than 35 different projects. Approximately 7,000 individuals and nearly 4,750 families are impacted by CVCA's services in Tazewell, Russel and Buchanan counties. The agency employs more than 70 individuals throughout the three-county area. CVCA brings a cross-section of the community together to address the needs of low-income citizens. The organization s mission is to provide the proper resources and opportunities to individuals, families, and communities to improve the quality of life.
