My wife and I have been going to the Johnston site for about four years. The people are friendly and accept older people and are helpful. Yes some of the equipment is older, but it is functional if you are into working out. Some of the tredmills here go to 30 degree inclines, most other gyms stop at 15. The exercise bikes can be used by a disabled person where some other gyms are unusable for some people. I see a lot of complaints about it not being all that clean. I see people cleaning all the time in Johnston. I have yet to see rusty equipment as others have said. I can't speak for this location but the Johnston location isn't a pickup spot like some other gyms are. We come for a workout, not to be seen. As to the ac, it does happen at times that the doors are open . On a hot day I hit my second gym which has new equipment but my wife can't get on their bikes! The equipment doesn't have as much weight and the back extention sounds like it is falling apart when it is maxed out. The equipment looks good and may be ok for a person using 20lbs, but maxed out it isn't comfortable to use. My second nation wide gym is within walking distance and my medical plan pays for it but after going there I can't wait to drive a few miles to Next Level, a real gym where I could grunt if I wanted to.
