BEDBUGS! - I have been renting an apartment since February and noticed the place had bedbugs shortly after moving in. I notified the manager on 3/17/15 and there have been many unsuccessful fumigations since; Like 9-10. When I looked into the fumigation company, I found out that they had no active license and were not supposed to be fumigating anyone. They sent the very same fumigators the next time as well. My GF has a 5 yr old who just got a sinus infection. The last time this apt building had a health dept. complaint about bedbugs was just 3 months before we moved in - on November 3rd 2014. They didn't know which unit because the complaint was anonymous. Our furniture was purchased brand new on credit after we moved in and it was delivered by the furniture company. We still owe on these items and will likely have to throw them away when we move out. As far as I know this not meeting the 'implied warranty of habitability' and they have not corrected the issue within 'a reasonable amount of time'. We only have 3 months left in our lease and we have not missed any payments for rent or utilities to date. I know it's the building owner's responsibility to provide a unit free from vermin & eradicate it within a reasonable amount of time. Unfortunately, the building's management isn't helping with this so you will probably have to seek legal help if you have any issues with this place. If you like BEDBUGS and like getting the run-around then by all means move on in.
