Is a major crippling disorder and the most serious form of arthritis. It is a complex, chronic inflammatory group of diseases, often affecting more than a dozen smaller joints during its course. In the foot, it frequently affects both ankles and toes.
Plantar Fasciitis
Symptoms: Plantar Fasciitis typically presents as a stabbing type of pain in the bottom of your foot or heel, which is at its worst when you first wake up in the morning. Most people complain that their first few steps are unbearable. Similar pain can result after long car rides or long periods of sitting.

The tendency to accumulate uric acid is often inherited. Other factors that put a person at risk for developing gout include: high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, surgery, chemotherapy, stress and certain medications and vitamins. For example, the bodyâ€™s ability to remove uric acid can be negatively affected by taking aspirin, some diuretic medications (â€œwater pillsâ€ ) and the vitamin niacin (also called nicotinic acid). While gout is more common in men aged 40 to 60 years, it can occur in younger men as well as in women.

Be sure to also avoid ingrown toenails, which can get infected, by keeping them trimmed neatly. If you are unable to cut your toenails safely, ask your podiatrist for professional assistance. And never attempt to cut your own bunions or corns as this can lead to infection, as well. Instead, remember to visit your podiatrist for safe and pain free removal.

Skin Cancer
A birthmark, mole, or freckle can be common findings on any part of your skin including your feet; however, many individuals do not apply sunscreen on their feet on a regular basis and such skin lesions could be a sign of sun damage. A nevus or common mole is a small lesion on the skin that is usually pink, tan, or brown and has a distinct edge. Skin lesions on the top, bottom and even in between your toes should be monitored by a medical professional at least once a year. Should the lesions change in size, shape, color, thickness, begin to itch or bleed, then they should be evaluated immediately. The only certain way to rule out skin cancer is to remove the tissue/ skin with a biopsy and evaluate it for cancer cells.

Self-care for corns includes soaking feet regularly and using a pumice stone or callus file to reduce the size of the corn. Special over-the-counter, non-medicated, donut-shaped foam pads can be worn to help relieve the pressure and discomfort.
Ulcer
Diabetic hotspots are specific areas of the foot in individuals with diabetes, which have increased skin temperatures compared to the rest of the foot, usually due to increased pressure. These temperature differences have been shown to help healthcare providers predict where a diabetic ulcer will present before it actually does.
Calluses
A Callus, also known as hyperkeratosis, is an area of hard, thickened skin that can occur across the ball of the foot, on the heel, or on the outer side of the big toe. Although many consider calluses to be a skin deformity, they are more an indication of a larger problem with the bone.

Morton's neuroma is a thickening of tissues around the nerve that leads to the toes. Morton's neuroma usually develops between the third and fourth toes in response to irritation, such as that caused by wearing high-heeled or narrow shoes, or from trauma. Symptoms may include a burning pain that radiates from the ball of the foot to the toes or numbness in the toes. Conservative treatments usually resolve the pain or progressions of the condition, and range from wearing roomier, lower-heeled footwear or using orthotics to reduce the pressure on the nerve, to injections of corticosteroid medication to reduce swelling and inflammation.
Foot Warts
, appear on the soles of the feet and are one of several soft tissue conditions that can be quite painful. Unlike other foot warts, plantar warts tend to be hard and flat, with a rough surface and well-defined boundaries. They are often gray or brown (but the color may vary), with a center that appears as one or more pinpoints of black. Plantar warts are often contracted by walking barefoot on dirty surfaces or littered ground. The virus that causes plantar warts thrives in warm, moist environments, making infection a common occurrence in public pools and locker rooms.

Causes: The plantar fascia serves as a shock-absorbing ligament, supporting the arch of your foot whether high or low. If the tension on the plantar ligament becomes too great, micro tears can result. Chronic or acute micro tearing can result in irritation and inflammation along the ligament and at its insertion point into the heel. Certain factors such as age, increased body mass index, certain types of exercise/ athletics, specific occupations, and foot type can put you at an increased risk of developing plantar fasciitis.
